just put together a dirt cheap build, so thought id put together a little guide for it.

Parts
Asus P8H61-M LE
Pentium G620
2gb Corsair DDR3
Nvidia 8600GT 256MB

What you need
First of all youll need OSX of some form.
Either the Snow Leopard disc, or a Unibeast stick you made on another hack/mac.
I used Unibeast, but if you are using Snow, the steps will be slightly different, up until the point of post installation.

Flash the bios with a patched one using this http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=49340

In the bios
In the bios, set the sata ports to AHCI
Set first boot to your desired installation medium (DVD Drive if Snow, USB Stick if Unibeast)

Installation of OSX
The actual installation will be generic for most boards, so refer to this guide if using Snow http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ ... -x-on.html
and this guide if using Lion http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/ ... using.html

Post install
By now you should be in OSX. First step is to make a DSDT. You should have internet access if using ethernet (the lnx2mac kext for realtek ethernet is present on both the iboot disc and the Unibeast stick).
Follow this guide to make your own DSDT for the board http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=35559

Now you should have a freshly made DSDT on your desktop
The next step is to do the Multibeast install.

In multibeast select these options:

We still need to install an additional kext for audio (attached to this post).
Download Kext Utility http://cvad-mac.narod2.ru/Kext_Utility/ ... v2.5.1.zip
Download and extract the ALC887 kext attached to this post.
Install the kext using Kext Utility.

Final words
Once done, on reboot you should now be able to boot into OSX off the hard drive.
Sound and ethernet should be working.
Sleep works with Toleda's DSDT sleep fix

This system is housed in a Fractal Core 1000 case.
Total cost of the build (including DVD Drive and Wifi) was £195.
For the price, its a bargain

Thanks for the guide, I just built something similar from Micro Center:

P8H61-M LE CSM R3 (With patched bios and DSDT, everything works OOTB except audio (which works after following your guide) and sleep)
CORSAIR 8GB 2x4GB
XFX RADEON 6870 (Works OOTB, Single Fan PCI-e card)
WD 2 TB GREEN
i5 2500K
Fractal Designs CORe 1000 mATX case
TPLINK TL-WDN4800 Wireless N PCI-e 1x (Works OOTB)

The last thing I'm about to get working is sleep/wake via: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57287

By the way, the Sleep DSDT fix I mentioned above DOES WORK. There was an issue with the DSDT editor I had and it wasn't installing properly into the /Extra folder.

Hey, I've got this same motherboard, but can't seem to get the front sound ports working (USB is working though).

Have you had the same issue?

Hi All

I have virtually identical build and when I try to install the install stops at Realtek driver and just hangs.I went into the bios and disabled the onboard ethernet, and it now hangs at DSMOS has arrived.

I have tried -v GraphicsEnabler=no i have tried just -v and also just GraphicsEnabler=no

Did you have to do anything special?

Adrian
