I will be trying to follow toledo's guide and do not know what most of the acronym's and shorthand phrases mean. To start:

1) what is "repo" as in "2/28/14 - New repo, BCM94352 - 5 GHz working"

2) what are "the usual" as in "supported WiFi card sources - the usual"

I really appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Hi,

So, I think I've somehow got the wrong card...

Can someone help or confirm if my suspicions are correct?

Bluetooth is available but can't connect to anything.
I've tried to install toledaARPT.kext but this didn't make WiFi available to add in Sys Prefs.

The device ID is 0032 for WiFi, listed as AR9485 on device name in DPCIManager.

Can someone tell me if I bought the wrong kind of card? I bought this one – did I make a mistake/misunderstand or was it wrongly advertised? The sticker on the card looked nothing like the picture.

OS is 10.9.4
Mobo: GA-Z87N-WiFi/BIOS version is F5
Processor is i5-4690k
Graphics are the on board ones.
I used the PDF guide from the repos.
I'll upload my registry if it's really needed.

AR9485 is from Atheros and it is not supported.

Sounds like you were sent the wrong card.

Thanks for the info. Relieved it wasn't my mistake.

Given this situation, I think I might switch plans. Two questions:

1. I take it 'native' (below) means it works out of box – no kexts, insertion, etc?
For any working WiFi without BT, 4.0, wake, low energy, native, - suggest:
Dual Mode USB 4.0 Bluetooth Dongle (BCM20702 Chipset) | GMYLE
2. If I installed the above, could I also use: Airport working OOB on Mountain Lion with Broadcom BCM4360 and Atheros AR9280?

The first question is more urgent than the second as I'm sick and tired of having inoperable Bluetooth!

Thanks for your time.

Can't help with BT. I don't use it (waste of time).

Hi Toleda,

My machine build is -

Alienware M17x R4
Intel 3630 QM
32 GB RAM
Killer wireless -n 1103 wireless

I have been trying to install various kexts for wirelss, nothing so far has worked.

Vendor - 168C
Device - 0030
Sub Ven - 1A56
Sub Dev - 2001
Vendor name - Qualcomm Atheros

I have installed a KEXT called AirportAtheros40.Kext that I found on one of the forums, but that has not worked.
