What Belkin dongle is that? I see the .zip you posted on that other thread but I didn't see where it said which one you used?
Sorry, it's the Belkin Mini Bluetooth Adapter, Part # F8T016.

Hi Toleda-

Could I buy a card that was made say for a dell, hp, etc on amazon or do i have to buy the ones available on ebay?
im looking at:

http://www.amazon.com/Atheros-Wireless-300Mbps-AR5BHB92-Dual-band/dp/B008UNNG1Y/ref=pd_sim_sbs_pc_9

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Half-Mini-P...3?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true#ht_3240wt_806

im looking to put it in a GA-Z77N-WIFI (the new mini-itx z77 board from gigabyte.) OS X Mountain Lion will be the OS.

The answer is yes as long as the actual wifi card is what they say it is.

Hello all!

Interesting topic which has previously helped me greatly.

I was a bit miffed at how expensive even second-hand mini pci-e wi-fi cards are, wanting originally to build my own "genuine" AirPort card as per the Golden Thread.

Toleda's helpful post pointed to a much cheaper way if you have a spare pci-e slot.

TPLink's WN781ND is a budget card with the Atheros AR9285 chipset.

I tried many kexts before taking the lead from Toleda.

Just add the extra ProductID to the IO80211Family.kext (internal Atheros plugin etc) This just involved one extra line with the 168c ID. Once done and re-installed the card works as a genuine AirPort card complete with AirDrop etc. Never had a problem since.

Can you please tell me what the ID is for the Dell DW1702? It has the Atheros AR9285 chipset. I have it installed but in Sys information there isn't any info because the card isn't recognized. I had the 9280 card before this but went with this card because of problems I was having.

I figured it out, the card is working great!

Interesting!
That Info.plist that needs to be edited looks like this for me: http://cl.ly/image/3X1t013x3U0t
I have the exact same card.
And OSX does not detect it. Could someone please help?
