Hey everyone, just completed this upgrade on my 4530s and it looks great. Unfortunately I can't control the brightness of the screen. The brightness slider and function keys still work, however.

- My laptop is an A7K05UT with an i7-2620M processor.
- I ordered a the AUO B156HW01 v4 screen from laptopscreen.com but received model #0VCM8X (appears to be identical).
- After using RehabMan's probook 4530s_hires script I installed the new screen and it booted fine

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you followed the guide:

Hi RehabMan, thanks for your quick response as always.

I recently upgraded to Sierra from Yosemite by doing a full re-install using your guide. Before running the hotpatch script (4530s_hires) I followed the 'Updates to patch repositories' section.

I'm glad to know that your first inclination is that this is a software issue... I really don't want to disassemble my probook again!

Hi everyone,
has anyone could indicate me one place for buying the cable? I already look in almost every hp part store and always find the cable out of stock. The screen is easy, through UK stores. but the cable seems almost impossible to find.
I love the 4530s and have already upgraded the CPU to an i72670QM and the ram, but the screen upgrade will be really worth for my work productivity, and I hope that this laptop holds on a long time! The only thing that annoys me is the fan noise after the upgrade, but it is bearable.
Thanks for the help.

I just did a search on ebay for the part# 646274-001.
There were quite a few results...

Thank you RehabMan, I was looking only to the official site of HP, do you trust any of the vendors in the Ebay?
Bests.

I have no specific vendors in mind on ebay.
Shopping/choosing is your task.

Something went wrong with my upgrade:

I got the B156HW01 V.7 and I also ordered a replacement cable https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B006OW62ZK/?tag=tonymacx8603-21

The problem is my screen has gray fog everywhere and the font is readable but has small gaps in it. I checked twice if i made the right connections. I believe that replacement cable is the wrong one because my screen looks exactly with the same gray fog when i connect my new screen with my old cable.
I think i will return the cable and order http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HP-4730...-LVDS-Cable-/282402462651?hash=item41c07f9bbb or http://www.ebay.de/itm/80431-LCD-LE...192717?hash=item5447d1ec4d:g:g9wAAOSwX9FZHDLV

Advice is highly appreciated.

I installed a 1080p screen in my 4530s the other day with a B156HW01 V.4. The gray fog screen is most likely the cable or the cable not being seated properly seen it many times. Can you attach picture of the number on the cable.

Good to know that it´s probably the cable. The cable itself does not have any label on it. I assume the Amazon seller doesn't know 100% which cable it really is. It looks like my old one, but I can't say for sure. I tried tor reseat the cable 3 times all with the same grey fog result.

I will order another one from eBay with the label on it. I think I will try this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/80431-LCD-LE...192717?hash=item5447d1ec4d:g:g9wAAOSwX9FZHDLV

I can't find real trustworthy shops only two eBay shops, one from China (link in my prior post) and this french guy.

Thanks for the help it reinforced my doubts regarding the cable.
