Hello everyone

I have a new system with carolina installation. I wanted to take advantage of my previous video card (GT640) I get graphic acceleration and it seems that the system recognizes it well.
The problem is that sometimes my mouse is laggy and some programs have problems loading certain graphics.

I am thinking of buying Rx560. Do you think this is a good option, or would GT640 have to work perfectly with my system?

Yes, sorry hahaha

Hi there.

Depending on the model, your GT640 will probably work okay.

Going forward we do not yet know if the GPU will be supported in 10.16, or many other Nvidia GPUs for that matter.

AMD certainly has better prospects, as the 560 has been used in recent iMacs.

Mouse lag can be caused by other things like USB port configuration. Graphic glitches by the system-definition being used. The last time a similar GPU to yours was used was about 8-years ago, so is now only borderline Catalina compatible, around iMac13,2 . Let us know what you are using.

Some software might just be pushing boundaries and giving the GT640 a hard time, especially if it is a 1GB model.

So, don't just throw money at the problem if there's a possibility it won't help.

I have a iMac13,2 profile on my new computer

The model of the GigaByte GV-N640OC-2GI card. It has always worked very well, until I changed my settings to upgrade to Catalina

I can really watch videos on youtube with no problem and I have two screens working very well. I really thought it would be a card problem, but do you think those symptoms could be due to something else? Thanks for answering

I have 6pcs of GigaByte GV-N640OC-2GI Rev 1.0 which bought in 2012, all of them just works OOB since OSX 10.8

the Rev 1.0 GT640 F10 stock firmware do not has the UEFI rom, I have updated the GOP Rom myself
