Same here. Something has changed. My test video went from 2:35-2:45 up to 3:50. Brucex went from 6.7-7.8 up to 9.6 or higher.
Have you done the supplemental update yet? Any changes?

Sapphire Pulse AMD RX 580 8GB
Biostar TZ77XE4 i7 3770K iMac 14.2

I am actually going back to a fresh 10.14.2 and not got it all set back up but fcpx is back to being fast again. I haven’t updated fcpx to 10.4.5 yet. I’m leaving it alone since it’s working good.

I think a lot of people didnt turn the "Background Render" for the test.

It is not accurate!

Mine is around 21sec.
I turn off. It’s the first setting I check.

i7 6700K OC bios 4,2 Ghz
32 Gb Ram 3200 Mhz DDR4 ( no OC )
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 4G Ram
SSD CT500MX500SSD1
FCPX v. 10.4.3
----------------
Test 1 sec. 47,53
Test 2 sec. 45,35
Test 3 sec. 39,13

The gpu has never exceeded 30/40% load, the CPU still less. A RX 580 would be just fine for an upgrade but the desire would be a Rx Vega 56 :headbang:
New test ...... OSX Mojave+Sapphire RX580 8gb Pulse with gtx970 without driver of course,

saved the file on osx partition journaled in the mechanical disk
:beachball:

18,25 sec. :headbang:
