Hi guys,

im about to upgrade my GPU of my iMac from mid 2011 - 2,7 Ghz i5 from a HD 6770M to a GTX 980M pulled out of an Alienware laptop.

I already installed Nvidia Web drivers and checked for updates.

Is there any other stuff that i should do? What do you think are the chances that it'll work?

Im expecting a black screen after the change and then straight loading the web drivers. i'm already aware that im loosing the boot screen because the Nvidia card isn't flashed.

would be great if you have some additional tipps or infos about building that kind of an "iMac halfhackintosh"...

Hi! I have a 2011 iMac too. Mine is 21.5 inch. As I understand only Kepler cards have full support. So u stuck to gtx700 series cards. I bought Gtx 765m from Clevo. Also I upgraded a cpu from i5 2400s to i7 2600s. Everything works flawlessly! Fcpx performance is really nice. Premiere Pro works fine too. 4k footage from gh5 and Eos rp plays in realtime even with some color grading. No problems with overheating.
