Hey Guys! First post, long time lurker.

I've got a Hackintosh using the following parts and need a GPU recommendation.

  • Intel i5-6600K 3.5GHz
  • Gigabyte - GA-Z170N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1151
  • EVGA - 650W 80+ Gold Certified
  • Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400

Works well except when using HDMI. I hook up a monitor and it kicks my massive 16 drive bay setup offline.
I'd like to start using the machine as a second edit bay and gaming machine and need a GPU recommendation.
I'd like to stay below $200 for the card. $150 would be awesome.

Any recommendations for compatibility and decent FPS?

Thank you all!

That's really (REALLY!) strange - I would be asking and troubleshooting why using HDMI would have ANYTHING to do with taking your system offline.

Anyway, to answer your question. At the $150-160 price range you'll have a wide choice of Nvidia GTX 1050Ti cards, which is no slouch. Keep your eyes open for sales and refurbished cards and you should be able to get a GTX 1060 for just over $200, which is what I would choose.

For example, NextWarehouse and Adorama Camera both have an EVGA GTX 1060 (new) for $230 w/free shipping:

NextWarehouse has a PNY GTX 1060 (new) for $224, and NeutronUSA has it for $233 (both w/free shipping):

Awesome! Thanks NobodyNose! Yeah, I've done trouble shooting at all points and even talked with the guy who made SoftRAID about it. No clue! But HDMI on the MOBO is definitely the issue and my 18 drives get quite upset when in use together.

At any rate, 1050 TI has been ordered! Thank you for the help!
