As I am writing this I am awaiting delivery of my GPD Pocket 2.

Earlier I noticed that a user named teuteux wrote a thread about success in installing on the GPD Pocket 2. Since then, this thread seems to have gone missing.

Does anyone have some information on where I can find teuteux, since he/she seems to have gone missing from this forum as well?

If anyone else has had success in installing on GPD Pocket 2, their comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Any luck with this? I just got my Pocket 2 a couple days ago. After a lot of fiddling, I finally got it to boot to the installer, but the internal display is not recognized by macOS (I think I need to try a DSDT patch of some sort).

Also, it looks like an eMMC driver for macOS does not exist, so I'm not holding out much hope for being able to install to the internal drive. :\

Your profile has no laptop hardware details. Please fix as per FAQ.
And upload problem reporting files as per FAQ.

No eMMC support, so you'll need to use a USB device... (which probably makes it not so desirable).

Hi I just gave it a try and managed to start the installer :)

The trick was to DISABLE the display rotation in BIOS.

After that a standard Unibeast 9 with Mojave Installer booted up nicely (rotated but ok).

Like RehabMan said the internal eMMC is not visible so the only choice right now is to install it on an external USB flash drive or on an microSD.

Installer running right now...

Update: I had to format the USB flash drive with APFS. HPFS+ gave me the error that there is not enough free disk space (128GB...?!?)

Update 2: It booted once veeeerrrrrryyyyyy sllllllllllooooooooooooowwwww. After using Multibeast with no special extra things to setup and a reboot i got kernel panics and the USB flash drive got corrupted.

hi folks,

i got my pocket 2 on monday and right now i am trying to figure out how to install mojave, especially graphics is a total mess on this tiny device.

There are two configurations i am stuck in right now.

Using the Unibeast EFI partition gives me internal display, rotated and only framebuffer, so there is no hardware-accelleration and nothing to configure the display.

I then borrowed the EFI-Folder from the lattepanda mojave installation, which switches off the internal display, but when logging in via remote desktop it seems that the graphics driver is loaded, it claims to have metal support. Funny also is that this config enables the correct display of the battery-charge

My guess is that the lattepanda-config is the closest to match this device, but as it lacks an internal display this is not set up. I also guess that the only problem left now is that macos is unable to read the EDID data. Is there any way besides windows to obtain that information to finally inject it via clover? i removed windows from the emmc and installed kali linux on it. every edid-tool that i found on the internet refuses to work correctly.

did anyone have any luck with this?

small update,

i decided to reinstall windows and used moninfo.exe to extract the edid data from the internal display.

for all users that also have a gpd pocket, the extracted HEX is as follows:

00FFFFFFFFFFFF0028890207000000001F1C0104A5090FFF2F0000A057499B2610484F000000010101010101010101010101010101016842B00A41800C70862044005F9700000018000000FC004B54303730464C4D2D3030460A000000FD003C3CF9F9110000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000006A

using the hex->base64 converter results in this:

AP///////wAoiQIHAAAAAB8cAQSlCQ//LwAAoFdJmyYQSE8AAAABAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBaEKwCkGADHCGIEQAX5cAAAAYAAAA/ABLVDA3MEZMTS0wMEYKAAAA/QA8PPn5EQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGo=

i also checked the edid-conformity on another linux machine using edid-decode:

edid-decode -c dspinfo.bin

However, i still can't enable the internal display.
I tried to paste the HEX into the clover-configurator, but the display stays black

does anybody have an idea?

No "Problem Reporting" files attached.
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Use the gen_debug.sh tool mentioned in the FAQ, that way it is less likely you'll omit something.

Have you tried disabling screen rotation in the BIOS? This got me to GRUB, but I haven't tried it with OS X yet. I suspect that could be one of the causes.

hello, ihave tried the rotationtrick. status right now is that windows and linux are sharing the emmc drive and running fine. clover and mojave are on the sd-card. clover is running perfect with the correct orientation if you reenable the rotation setting in the bios. this also applies to grub. i have limited as i am in hospital now, but i try to hook up the pocket to the hdmi-tv in my room to get a video signal and try to gather the required information

Hello, has anyone found a way to rotate the display back into landscape after installation?
