Going back to Mavericks GA-Z77X-UD5H

I believe by default it is set to Auto (Bios optimized defaults). I'd advise to disable it, it is known to cause all kinds of weird USB / wake issues. On my previous build it used to fix a weird mouse keyboard delay (something like 20sec) after waking OSX.

Also tip: backup your Bios settings to USB stick when you have found the right configuration. One careless Bios update or dead CMOS battery and you'll be tearing yout hairs out finding that specific guide that mentions the right Bios settings :)

I'm backing up and going to try a fresh install if that doesn't work..definitely going back to Mavericks.

I went back.... to Mavericks. It will be nice if they can write a program that will detect your hardware and automatic install the software it needs.

Wow. Interesting. This actually has an effect on the USB camera.

With that setting disabled, I can wake up from sleep with the USB camera plugged in. However, trying to Facetime results in a black screen (aka the camera is not working after sleep). Then I started up Chrome, and my PC froze up and restarted :(

But at least we're getting somewhere. So it's a power / CPU thing...

I actually already had this setting in place...My camera never causes a panic from just waking...it takes me unplugging and plugging something thing in USB wise...such as the camera itself or my IOGear Bluetooth Dongle that causes the instance reboot...:(

Hmm, well try to go back and revert that setting and see what happens. In Mavericks, with this setting Enabled, there were no issues. Now with Yosemite, I get a KP on wake (from the camera).

Kernel panic on wake can have numerous causes.
You might want to try these:
- Add or remove the NullCPUPowerManagement KExt (try with and without this KExt)
- Add darkwake=0 as boot option
- Activate AsusAICPUPM in Clover
- Activate P-states and C-states

Also please check /var/log/system for any weird kernel messages or errors:
cat /var/log/system | grep kernel

This is the post I tried to do earlier. It also included some steps on how to patch AppleHDA, but if I add those then the forum won't accept my post (grmbl).

Sorry I'm not using a laptop so I don't really know how to fix brightness issues.
The AddPNLF option in Clover might help though:
http://clover-wiki.zetam.org/Configuration/ACPI

Try to enable that option using Clover configurator.

Camera

I don't use a camera on this system. You might try a few of the USB fixes in Clover (see the Clover configurator and http://clover-wiki.zetam.org/Configuration/Devices). Also in your BIOS I recommend setting the CPU PLL Voltage Override option to disabled (in my BIOS under Advanced Frequency Settings \ Advanced CPU Core Features). A lot of people report sleep / USB issues when it is set to Enabled or Auto.

iMessage

Apple is adding more and more security and checks to iMessage with every update. It seems no longer possible to get them to work under chameleon/chimera. I have it working with Clover by using the ROM and Serial Number of my old MacBook Pro as described here:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298027-guide-aio-guides-for-hackintosh/#entry2020598

You can also find a lot of info here:

@BenTrovato

Good to hear! What revision of the Z77X-UD3H do you have (1.0, 1.1 or 1.2)?
I have revision 1.0, but I've setup a hackintosh for a friend with 1.1 as well.

I'm using a modded 20e bios:

Thank you . I will try that . if I have the USB ports working, camera and sound working I am happy. I can survive without IM.

Have you tested anything else in regards to this issue?
