This build was made possible by the wonderful teamwork on display in the Alder Lake thread, with a special shoutout to @felbo , @ori69 , @CaseySJ and the OpenCore Team.

After nearly 2 years using my Z490 Vision G and after I cancelled my order for a Mac Studio, I decided to build what will likely be my last Hackintosh

Summary

Not had a problem with any of my builds using this forum from my Z97, Z370 & Z490 builds and the same seems to apply to my Z690 build, this build is a nice upgrade to my Z490 build and using a WD Black PCIe 4.0 boot drive seems to make this build turbo charged.. so much more snappier.

The EFI folder used is partly from felbo & ori69 that they provided on the forum with my own changers for better or worse.

I found using USBMap was best for my to map all my USB ports.. and it was nice and easy as well. This guide was also helpful as well Dortania USB Guide

That's a really nice case!, and the subtle RGB RAM is a nice touch!.

What kind of work is this system used for ? Audio or video production ?

This is a great idea from WD. Instead of saying it's M or B keyed they simply say, "one notch slots only."

lite video editing at most.. system is so overkill for my use case but I like new stuff & didn't want to spend 2k on a mac studio just incase I want to run Windows native for gaming in the future.

That's a good plan. Your hardware will have Windows 11 support for at least the next 10 years. I'll bet it can still run AAA titles fine for the next 5 years.

Why do you set VT-d to Enabled?
Most people set it OFF.

For modern OpenCore builds you can now leave VT-d enabled. You do however, also need to activate the DisableIOMapper quirk.

Uploaded Opencore 0.8.5 EFI and added BIOS settings that might help if you get loud coil whine like noise coming from the CPU area (which I seem to be getting now), same settings I used on the Z490 which makes a big difference.

I also found that updating the BIOS to F8 completely solved the noise issue for me. Without changing these settings. And I tried to install the F20b BIOS, there were options for setting this noise, but the macOS with this BIOS does not boot.
