Please put this info in Post #1. Otherwise, I'll have to print it out. (Oh, no! Mr. Bill.)Several reasons for choosing MacPro7,1 over iMacPro1,1 for any new build:
Reason 1:
Reason 2:
- iMacPro1,1 was released in late 2017
- MacPro7,1 was released in mid 2019
- This means MacPro7,1 can be supported for a longer period of time (i.e. iMacPro1,1 will be retired by Apple before MacPro7,1)
Both iMacPro1,1 and MacPro7,1 have automatic updates working just fine. The only issue is incremental downloads of those updates instead of full downloads.
- Our desktop systems are composed of:
- Separate tower for computer
- Separate monitor
- In other words, our Hackintosh systems are not all-in-one units
- Mac Pro is the only current Intel-based system from Apple that comes in two pieces
- (Mac Studio is not Intel-based)
- In About this Mac we therefore see an image of a mini-tower
- On iMacPro1,1 we get incremental downloads when RestrictEvents is enabled
- On MacPro7,1 we get incremental downloads when RestrictEvents is disabled or when RestrictEvents is enabled with the revpatch arguments presented earlier (cpuname, sbvmm, asset)
I'm currently running my system as an iMacPro1,1.
