Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

@CaseySJ, I've searched this thread for posts about HS01, HS03, and HS05, in one of your posts you said these 3 port's don't work even under windows, because I need the case's USB-c port to work, So I tested these ports under Windows; they all can successfully work with USB 2.0 device.

All USB 2.0 device connected to HS01/03/05 are working, then I try to use the all port SSDT, back to Monterey, all USB 2.0 device connected to these port are not working, very strange.

I'm using latest bios F6 (2022/08/12). Would you please investigate this again?

All,

My Z690 Aero G DDR4 has been running BIOS F6 since very early in the build. I had problems finding 32GB of RAM that would work with the BIOS XMP1 setting selected. I just moved the build to a Lian Li 001D Evo case so I could fit a recently purchased RX 6800 XT card and an AIO 360 cooler in the case. (With 3 x 120 cooler fans and 7 x 120 intake/exhaust fans on the case, under stress the i9-12900K runs around 80° C.)

I also decided to upgrade to 4 x 16GB of Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz. I again found that the BIOS would only boot with 2 x 16GB sticks in slots A2 and B2 and XMP1 set. I couldn't get BIOS to display with RAM in slots A1 and B1.

Since BIOS F8 was recently released, I decided to replace F6 and see if improvements were made to XMP1, even though nothing was mentioned about XMP1 improvement on the download page.

Miraculously with F8 I could run the 4 X 16GB 3600MHz memory successfully. However, the first time I started with XMP1 selected it took perhaps as much as a minute or more before the BIOS screen appeared. I was almost about to declare another failure!

Subsequent boots displayed the BIOS screen normally. Hurray!!!

I hope this might help others who have had problems with whatever brand of RAM they are trying to use with XMP1.

@steve3d -- I have retired my Z690 Aero G so let's see if others may be able to help.

@NCMacGuy,

Would you mind checking whether a USB 2.0 device in macOS connects to HS01, HS03 and HS05?
  • HS01 -- front panel USB-C port (perhaps an iPhone with a USB-C to Lightning connector if you have one)
  • HS03 and HS05 are highlighted below:

Hello @macmaxxx

Please have a look at this post and let me know if you encounter any issues:
Hello CaseySJ BF(BigFriend):)

BT recognised but always impossible to activate it. I use 15 usb+HS14 BT Intel without Xhci. I've tryed All USB with HS14 Intel with Xhci but the same

P ; This hack is not for me, for a friend who have a Apple BT keyboard and mouse. I don't have this; maybe connect it that wil activate?

@CaseySJ

I use a custom SSDT-UIAC.aml that does not use HS01, HS03, or HS05.

The only USB2 device I own, other than a keyboard, is a thumb drive. I do have a converter plug like pictured. I plugged the USB2 thumb drive into the converter to test HS01, and HS03. Testing HS05 did not require the converter.

One at a time I modified my SSDT-UIAC.aml to add HS01, HS03, and HS05. HS01 and HS03 were activated and displayed in IORegistryExplorer and Hackintool, but the thumb drive was not shown as connected. (The keyboard plugged into HS01 was powered on, but was not active.)

HS05 did display the thumb drive in Finder, IORegistryExplorer and Hackintool.

I don't know if using the converter had an effect on the results for HS01 and HS03.

What type of USB2 device would have a USB-C plug?

Hello @macmaxxx

Please post screenshots of the following:
