Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

That would buy you an M1 MBP base model. When will the gfx card craziness end ?

The craziness has reached down to AMD RX550 and even Nvidia GT710's are now rare, new ...

WOW!! As of this date/time, your MSI RX 6800 XT is listed on Amazon for $2050.00 USD!! Holy cow!

Pure insanity! I purchased mine from NewEgg several months ago after being selected in the Shuffle.

I must admit, not as successful as I hoped.
I followed the guide as carefully as possible, and I managed to get to the OC picker.
However, the progress bar is stagnant at 50%. I abandoned any further attempts after one hour.

Gigabyte Z690 Areo G.
Radeon RX6800 XT
64G DDR4/3600
1TB SSD (for experimentation)
Fenvi (FV-T919)
Wired mouse and keyboard

What I have done:

downloaded and installed OS onto USB drive.
used supplied EFI-076...V2.
entered relevant ID information within config.plist.
made resizable GPU bar change from -1 to 0 (config.list / booter)
I tried disabling resizable GPU bar within the BIOS settings.

Simply, I am stuck. Literally.

Kindly advise.

Tony
Okay let's figure this out...
  • Are you installing Monterey?
  • At the OpenCore Picker press and release CMD-V to toggle Verbose mode. Then boot the macOS installer.
  • At what point is the boot freezing?
  • Is SecureBootModel set to Disabled in Misc --> Security?

I am in the process of download the EFI zip from Post 1 and starting the Monterey installer to see if I can reproduce this.

Meanwhile, is Serial Port disabled in BIOS?

Serial Port is disabled in BIOS.

I should amend my original statement. The install is not freezing. It is, however, in a perpetual loop with-in verbose mode, reflecting the photo I uploaded.

In BIOS, is Resizable BAR Support enabled?
  • If it's enabled, set ResizeAppleGpuBar to 0 in Booter section only, otherwise boot will fail.
  • Alternatively, disable Resizable BAR Support in BIOS and try booting the installer.
Also, are you using a dock of some sort?

Update:
  • The EFI ZIP in Post 1 is okay.
  • If Resizable BAR Support is enabled in BIOS, we must set ResizeAppleGpuBars to 0 in the Booter section of config.plist.
  • STEP 4 of the guide (Post 1) has been updated to emphasize this point.
