Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Hi guys, I upgraded from 12900K to 13900K last month, and at the same time, the BIOS had to be upgraded to F23.

But something confusing happened, when I was using Geekbench or R23, or even rendering software at full capacity, my system had a high chance of crashing and rebooting, and the system did not seem to record the crash log.

I've been stuck with this problem for a month. So far I've tried: enable/disable CpuFriend, replace CPUFriendDataProvider config file, enable/disable CpuTscSync.kext and CpuTopologyRebuild.kext, use default frequency RAM, limit power consumption and temperature of 13900k.

But unfortunately, the problem still exists. Everything works fine in Windows, and I didn't have similar issues with my previous 12900K. Do you have any ideas? Many thanks!
Hello @zzhou,

When you run Windows, is the system stable for long periods of time (let's say 6 to 8 hours)? I faced a similar problem, which was due to bad memory. The system would sometimes crash quickly and sometimes crash much later.

If you have a spare set of DIMMs it might be a good idea to temporarily try them.

@CaseySJ,
I have a strange problem with my Z690 system...I can not update to the just released 13.3.1 (a) Rapid Security Response. The System Pref > General has "1" (for one software update) but no update is revealed.

@Stork,

What are the current settings for:
  • SecureBootModel
  • csr-active-config

Dear community,

Is somebody out there with a (most) similar build, who maybe can upload their acutal working EFI? I'm still facing the problem that i am not able to install MacOS, because of issues. (#2251, #2257, ...).
The EFI folder from brixx (#2256) did not help.

What I have:
  • read the tutorials
  • read the how-to's by CaseySJ (#1)
  • checked some things with help of community
  • booter - SetupVirtualMap set to ON
  • stuck

Hello @ahoeh,

Sorry to hear about the ongoing problems. Some questions/comments:
  • Are you trying to install Ventura 13.1 from scratch?
    • Do you want to install Ventura 13.3 instead?
  • Feel free to remove serial numbers from config.plist, then compress and post the entire EFI folder
    • I can upgrade it to OpenCore 0.9.1

SecureBootModel is Disabled
csr-active-config is 00000000
Please set SecureBootModel to Default and let's see if that allows software update to appear.

Hey @CaseySJ

Actual it is a 13.1 USB Install Stick, but it would be possible to generate any other version of Installer.
I want to install a version that runs ;-). If you say most chance to succeed would be the usage of v13.3. I will try so.
Actuall it stucks before installation. It is a clean installation to a never written partition on ssd.

If you see any unneeded or missing stuff in my EFI, you are invited to tell me so.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yahoo! That did it!

However, I still have the SysPref > General still showing a "1" next to the General and the Software Update has a faded "1", and macOS Ventura is up to date. Hmmm. Oh, well.

It looks like the 40Gbps Ethernet card is working in MacOS 13
