Thanks again for your help Casey. Unfortunately it’s already set to disabled.Hmm, on the backup disk try changing SecureBootModel to Disabled and see if it will boot.

Just for clarity’s sake:
M.2 Boot drive contains EFI, and macOS
USB-C External is an exact clone made with CCC and EFIclone.sh
I press F12 at boot and the following happens:
- Choose M.2 partition, I can boot macOS from original M.2 or backup with no problem
- Choose the EFI on the cloned drive, I can boot the original M.2 but not the clone
