Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

So my machine (been on for past 4 hrs - light use) just started ramping up the fans and 'kerneltask' is using a bunch of CPU. Disks not reading writing, network doing nothing, automatic updates is off, system is idle.
Activity Monitor CPU usage show a single core running at max, then switches to another (skipping one, as in every other one - so must be related to actual cores? not threads?) - the switching is sometimes in order , sometimes not.... running each at 60% to 100% at a time. mostly focusing on the 2nd Core (or 3rd bar) - this went on for about 10 min until I rebooted

Finally, I had complete my new hackintosh build so thank you @CaseySJ for your guide and all the other helpful info.
So here it is:
Mac OS X Catalina 10.15.6
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z490 Vision G
CPU - Core i7-10700k
GPU - Radeon RX 570 (will change it later onto RX 5700 XT or maybe I should wait for BigNavi :)))
Memory - HyperX DDR4-2666 32768MB PC4-21328 Fury Black (HX426C16FB3/32)
CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-D15
SSD - Samsung 860 EVO 250GB
Power Supply - be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W
Case - be quiet! Silent Base 601 Silver

At a first glance, all works pretty smooth and fast :)
The next steps will be the backup creation and some performance testing.

Is Time Machine running?

OMG!!! I just discovered that I had so many Disk Images in Recovery mode, how can I delete it?

I think that is how it is supposed to be.

Yeah sure, but that's a bit strange that after complete erasing SSD M.2 and reinstall OS everything stayed in place.

@CaseySJ Alright so thunderbolt works just fine on both interfaces and hard drives, I also got the ram up to 2933mhz with the system stable but thats as high as it will go before things start acting weird. I wasnt able to get the CPU to rename properly and after following the steps posted it now reads as: 3.6Ghz "10-Core

Seems like the name was cut off or didnt handle the quotation right. I followed the steps in this order: downloaded cpu_name_v2.sh.zip, ran the first command then the second (was I supposed to run them as one command?), then created the final command
cd Downloads
./cpu_name_v2.sh "10-Core Intel Core i9-10850k"

Also since about my mac shows a correct serial number is it safe to sign into my apple id?
  • It is correct to enclose the new CPU name within quotes.
  • What Locale does the command show when it's run?
  • Are you running Mojave or Catalina? This command does not work with Big Sur at the moment.

Also try disabling XMP Profile 1 from BIOS Setup. You can manually select Memory Multiplier 29.33 for 2933 MHz memory. See if this configuration is more stable.
