There have been some reports of incompatibility with WD SN750 NVMe SSDs. Sometimes moving this SSD to a different M.2 slot can help.

Three suggestions:
  1. Try disabling NVMeFix.kext from the Kernel section of OpenCore Configurator. Reboot and check if the problem still occurs.
  2. If problem still occurs, try moving the SSD to a different M.2 slot.
  3. If that also does not help, physically remove the SN750 and temporarily use a different NVMe SSD or even a cheap SATA 2.5" SSD.
    • If macOS installs and runs smoothly on the temporary SSD, then it might be best to return the WD SN750 and purchase an alternative instead.
    • The NVMe SSDs I recommend are:
      • ADATA SX series
      • Silicon Power
      • Sabrent Rocket series
    • Other brands are also good, but to be safe I would suggest staying away from:
      • Samsung
      • WD
I bought a WD SN750 last year, after years of buying Samsung. It works well with macOS, gets 2700 MB/sec read write (via Thunderbolt). Mainly because of how long Samsung drives take to execute the trim command at macOS boot time. Also, the Samsung 970 EVO Plus runs a bit warm so I wanted to test a different brand.

I bought another WD SN750 this year, to use as a test drive (for beta OS purposes), and it seems like the firmware or controller has changed. The drive only writes at 730 MB/sec max, doesn’t matter if it is in a Thunderbolt enclosure or directly attached to the motherboard. Doesn’t matter if it’s Windows or macOS. I tried different motherboards, same issue. I sent it back. so write speeds are affected, not read speeds.

Can be that Western Digital changed something in their manufacturing process. And it’s very curious that the advertisement on the box is for the read speed, and they’re silent about the write speed. Very annoying.

The Z490 Vision D does not have the USB drop problem, but the Z390 Aorus Pro shouldn’t have that problem either. As long as a maximum of 15 ports are mapped and an older BIOS is installed (one that does not support Resizeable BAR) then it should work reliably.

For any other questions about the Z490 Vision D (including the way USB ports are mapped) please see Post 1.
Thank you so much for your quick reply.
Unfortunately, I am using the latest BIOS version on Z390 Aorus Pro, so it should have the Resizable BAR :(((. I already have the USBMap kext 15 ports but the problem still persists. I have checked a lot of forums but no one seems to solve the freezing problem.
Regards

We recommend older versions of BIOS that do not have Resizeable BAR support. It is perfectly okay to install older versions of BIOS.

Hi there,
I am using Z390 aorus pro and this motherboard has a wellknown usbdrop problem that causes freezing (the pc is still working but I can not use trackpad, keyboard). This problem is really annoying.
i am planning to upgrade to Z490 vision D with i7 10700.

1 could you tell me whether this motherboard has that problem?
2 i have checked your efi but can not find usbmap kext, have you not mapped the usb ports?

hope you can answer my questions
Regards
Might be worth checking if your Asmedia ports are connecting to the right driver. I had this issue moving to Big Sur, and it took awhile to track down. Even when I wasn't using those ports.

If so, try the Asmedia.kext floating around.

I didn't know that. I will try to reinstall an older version. Thank you very much.

Hi NorthAmtransAm,
This is the first time I heard Asmedia.kext. Could you tell me the functions of the kext? I am using Catalina 10.15.7 (latest one), Big Sur seems to be a bit lagging for me so I downgrade to Catalina.

BTW, could you tell me the section in BIOS that contains resizable Bar? I hope Z390 and Z490 BIOS have similar sections.
We recommend older versions of BIOS that do not have Resizable BAR support. It is perfectly okay to install older versions of BIOS

It likely won't be an issue if you're on Catalina.

For your knowing though look here.

Is your system connected to wired Ethernet? If not, give that a try. No guarantees, but if that doesn't work then the next option will be to install macOS using a different Hackintosh or a real Mac. That means installing the SSD from this Hackintosh into an external USB enclosure, for example, and connecting it to the real Mac or other Hack.
Found the culprit!!!! ... it was the ME Intel firmware upgrade that included a part of firmware via a Windows' driver I didn't load. I reset BIOS, upgrade to last version again, applied the the ME Intel and now everything is smooth as usual! Thanks so much!!!

the only thing is that I have an wake issue as you can see:

Code:
 pmset -g log | grep -e "Sleep.*due to" -e "Wake.*due to"
2021-07-30 12:49:48 +0200 Sleep Entering Sleep state due to 'Software Sleep pid=159':TCPKeepAlive=active Using AC (Charge:0%) 19 secs
2021-07-30 12:50:07 +0200 DarkWake DarkWake from Normal Sleep [CDN] : due to CNVW/ Using AC (Charge:0%) 24 secs
2021-07-30 12:50:31 +0200 Wake DarkWake to FullWake from Normal Sleep [CDNVA] : due to UserActivity Assertion Using AC (Charge:0%)

I'm using a chinese (from Ebay) Broadcom BCM94360CS2 in PCI Ex 1x and probably it's not fully compatible... anyway minor problem!

Interesting. Will keep this mind.

I assume that your system fails to enter sleep and stay asleep. If so, first thing to check is whether “Wake for Network Access” is enabled in System Preferences —> Energy Saver. We should disable this.
