Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Update: The Youbo card fixed the sleep/wake issues I was having in MacOS and Windows. Quick question for everyone, how long does it take for your system to go to sleep? When I set the system to sleep, the monitor almost immediately turns off, but the cpu takes around 30-45 seconds to go to sleep. Not sure if this is normal for a Hackintosh.
30 seconds is about right...

25-30 sec in maOS, 3-5 sec in windows and Linux. macOS 10.13 (I believe) introduced a delay...

Having some fresh issues with Facetime. Spent a few days trying to figure it out but can't seem to. Able to make calls using my iPhone, and the Facetime app:
1) Doesn't seem to be picking up my microphone
2) The little audio bars in the Facetime call window move when the other person speaks, but I can't hear anything
3) It doesn't dim the audio in the background like it usually does

Can't see any sound settings in the Facetime app. iMessage etc.. still working perfectly. Any ideas?

Let's check some basic things first:
  • What is the size of your USB Flash Disk?
  • What is the make/model? Is it USB 3.x?
    • Ideally we should use a USB 3 16GB or larger flash disk.
    • I have always had excellent results with Samsung Bar Plus 32GB.
  • Please post a screenshot of the Disk Utility screen where we enter (a) Name of USB disk, (b) Format = MacOS Extended (Journaled), and (c) Scheme = GUID Partition Map

Everything checked out fine, but it just wouldn't work in Yosemite. Then I remembered I had a Sierra OS I could boot into and it worked fine in Sierra. So I didn't feel like troubleshooting any further. Phew!

I managed to get everything up and running easily with a few issues I hope can be easily fixed.

1a. My main issue: The desktop background images won’t stay as what I set them too. They keep resetting to that default island.

I’ll reboot the computer, and the screen background on both monitors will be the correct image, then I enter my login password and when it loads the desktop it reverts back to the default island…. Very annoying.

1b. Possibly related with that problem: I have a dual monitor setup. I went into System Pref > Displays > Arrangement and moved the menu bar/dock to my main monitor. But when I start computer, the login screen defaults to the 2nd monitor which is usually powered off unless needed. If I just logout and login again, it is correctly on my main monitor but after a restart it is on the 2nd monitor.

Unfortunately, I do not think that a replacement Vision D will make a difference. Instead, please do this:
  • Connect the UAD and power it on before booting the system.
  • I believe there is a "RESET" function on the UAD. If so, reset the UAD.
  • Now boot into macOS.
  • Download and run IORegistryExplorer and select File --> Save As..., then post the saved file.
  • Also post screenshot of System Information --> PCI.
Thanks CaseySJ!
it's a bit late since I already made a replacement and I'm waiting for a new one:)
I will let you know if the replacement effects to TB3 work as soon as I receive it.

so after I did some benchmarks and I results with 10900k are worst in every category then on z390 and i9900k that I had to check if that is because of Big Sur so I reinstalled Catalina and same results so I reinstalled back Big Sur and now sleep is working on 19.1 as well so not sure why it did not work in the first place.

I will write another post here with all the results that I have comparing z170 and i7 6600k vs z390 i9900k and this one z490 and i9 10900k with Radeon VII....

also my asus 10 gbit started acting weird I think something is broken now since it does not want to connect to 10 gbit both windows and mac so I will try with syba card and I also ordered vision D to try and decide which one I will keep

here are my results so my 6 years old 6600k with vega 56 is twice faster in rendering then I9 10900k z490 with Radeon VII ??? how is this possible. Geekbench 4 with radeon vii and i9900k was with radeonboost.kext and with imac pro 1.1 which gave me rendering time of 3:12 while this machine using this EFI giving me 6:38 minutes of rendering time ? and I tried to install catalina and to see if this is because of big sur and I got almost same results there did not even bother to write it down since it renders very very slow. Something is wrong here for Radeon VII, even card when I am rendering I can not hear fans or nothing like it is using igpu for rendering or something, it is very strange that spending so much money is giving me nothing, and I also had real 2019 i9 Imac but I forgot to do same tests and now I am curious to see same test on the 20.1 i9 real mac

Hello, does it matter if I take the i5 10600KF or 10600K? I mean I'm planning to get the Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 5700 XT so do I really need the Intel UHD 630 GPU to get a hackintosh going?

Not really. But the iGPU is helpful if the card goes kaput for some reason.

That's about the same for me.
