@emistral Good to know I'm not the only one!

Is it only the WD that makes the #3 slot not work? Have you tried with one of the EVO's in the #3 slot and the WD in #1 or 2?

Are you able to link the PCIEx4 NVMe card you ended up using, just in case I have to go that route?
If I remove the WD SSD, I can install the EVO+ drive in any M2 slots on the MB, no issue. But I have only 2 EVO+ SSDs. If I had a third one I am not sure if that would cause the pb.
I think the pb is the combination of EVO+ and WD. Even if I have only 1 EVO+ installed, as soon as I add the WD (regardless of the solt), I can't post or boot.

Regarding the card, thisnis what I bought:
I initially thought that it was 2 x M2 NVMe M key but in fact it is only 1 X NVMe M2 M key and one B key.

The WD is installed on that card and I have left the slot #3 empty so that the full bandwidth is allocated to the WD.

How is the boot time measured? I can not confirm the numbers, I am using a 970 Evo Plus 1TB and it takes 32 seconds from boot drive selector to MacOS login screen.

Manually using a stopwatch but from boot to usable desktop. For filevault, from password entry to usable desktop. I'm going off of based on multiple reports of people in multiple forums and r/hackintosh of slow boot times with 970 Evo+. You can use the drive well after boot but booting was slow for multiple people compared to other drives. Might have changed in 10.15.5/6.

Hey, my friend helped me make a few changes to my build according to your recommendations, What do you guys think?

CPU i5 10600K 4.1Ghz Turbo 4.8Ghz 12MB Cache TRAY
CPU Cooler Antec Mercury 120 RGB M120-RGB All-In-One Performance 120MM 1800RPM 73CFM Model
Motherboard Gigabyte Z490 Vision D LGA1200 10th Gen Only DDR4 HDMI
RAM Ripjaws V Series 16GB 8GBX2 KIT DDR4 3600Mhz CL16
GPU Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 HDMI 3xDP
SSD (Windows) Intel 660P Series QLC 512GB M.2 NVMe
SSD (macOS) Samsung MZ-V7E500BW 970 EVO Series 500GB M.2 NVMe
HDD (Share for both OS) Toshiba P300 2TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 3.5" 6.0GBPS
Case NX800 RGB 1X120MM ARGB + 2X200MM ARGB Mid Tower
PSU Corsair RM750x RMx Series 750W Active PFC with 135MM fan

Thanks!

Don't use AIOs so no idea about their compatibility or performance. Everything else looks fine.

In generally the mac part of the hackintosh runs slightly hotter than the windows part. Using a deepcool assassin 3 air cooler, I average 35C in idle in mac compared to 32-33C in Windows. If you are overclocking or undervolting, macos requires slightly higher voltage than Windows (I saw this both in my X99 and z490 system). For current Z490 and 10700k, Windows is stable at 5 Ghz @ 1.25V while macOS requires 1.27V. Consequently, mac under load is also hotter (85C vs 82C)

On the flip side, macOS generally completes work faster than Windows.

So whether the AIO is enough or not is depended upon your use case, your usage patterns and your preferred noise levels.

This feels like faulty hardware. Have you tested the combination in another motherboard? If the same issue happens, then one of the two ssds are faulty. If not, then the motherboard is faulty.

Anyone here tried the Gigabyte Z490 Vision G with ver.1 of the Alpine Ridge TB3 AIC?

I moved your post to the Z490 Vision D thread where we have a number of people with Vision G.

Please note that there is one version of GC-Alpine Ridge, but two versions of GC-Titan Ridge. I believe the GC-Alpine Ridge should work on Vision G.

I'm using a GC-Titan Ridge (version 1) in my Z490 Vision D. Because Vision D lacks a Thunderbolt header, I simply jumper pins 1 and 3 on the GC-Titan Ridge. It works just fine.

Edit: Correction pointed out by @scottkendall -- there are two versions of GC-Alpine Ridge as well.

Hello @crossmoid,

Can you please post the subsection of log messages that points to IONVMeFamily.
Hi Casey,

This is strange, looking at the system log in hackintool today, the event has changed but the time (and length) of that occurrence is exactly the same! The stall happens 20s in and lasts for 23s.....

Forgot to post but complete success

10.15.6 Catalina on a EVO Plus 2TB
i9-10900K, 64GB 3000 Dominator RAM, Sapphire 5700 XT SE, Fractual S36+ celcuis, Broadcom BCM943602CDP with adapter for complete WiFi and Bluetooth functionality

RGB for the board, RAM, GPU and Fractal pump header are all remembered on hardware (set in windows)

Windows 10 running on a 2.5" SSD
Different BIOS profiles saved for switching OS's

No random temp jumping with CPU, just sweet sailing
