Hello @cocoman0311,

When you formatted your M.2 disk with Disk Utility (from the Big Sur installer), did you select View --> Show All Devices and click on the parent name of the M.2 SSD? And then select Format = APFS and Scheme = GUID Partition Map?
Yeah, I missed that the first time around as well (show all devices), but on a re-read I caught it. ... it stinks that apple chooses to bury menu items, especially when you are in was is essentially an ADMIN tool.

Next I need GenSMBIOS-master to get its servers updated. I'll be curious to see if iMac20,1 will have any substantial difference from iMacPro1,1, which I'm using now.

Has anyone installed Big Sur to a Vision D Catalina Backup Disk, changing CPUID mask, or is it better to install fresh from USB?
It's better to install fresh from USB. Here are some (of many) reasons:
  • Apple issued a supplemental update to Catalina 10.15.6 yesterday that fixes a virtualization bug and adds support for 2020 iMac 27". We should be able to use iMac20,1 as soon as serial number generators have been updated. If you had installed Big Sur on top of Catalina, you would not have been able to install the Supplemental Update.
  • Apple may issue additional bug fix releases for Catalina before Big Sur debuts sometime late fall.
  • If you install Big Sur onto your Catalina Backup disk, you will of course lose your Catalina backup. SATA SSDs are extremely cheap (Amazon sells 128GB SATA SSDs for US$20 or less. Couple that with an external USB 3.0 enclosure (or connect the SSD directly in the case).

@CaseySJ Not sure if it is the right place but since this pb appeared recently on the new build, I thought that I would ask. I have the following bluetooth devices:
- magic mouse
- magic keyboard
- Yamaha YAS 107 soundbar
- Jaybird in ear buds

The issue I have is with the YAS 107 upon wake. The soundbar is connected via BT and work flawlessly. Upon going to sleep, the BT connection is lost and after a while the soundbar goes inot standby mode (all lights off but still in standby).
Upon wake the soundbar is not reconnected. all the lights are still off whihc is normal and if I go to the BT manager and reconnect to the soundbar, the lights are back on and the connection is reestablished.
So the pb is that I am not sure if it is an issue with the soundbar or the system. I paired and connected the Jaybird in ear buds and when the system goes to sleep I have a tone in the in ear buds to notify that the connection was lost. When the system wakes up, I also have a tone upon reconnection and the in ear buds work fine.
So I am a bit lost because I can't figure out where or what to look for.
Any suggestion? I am using bte the genuine apple BT/wifi combo card and a PCIe x1 adapter. Thanks

There have been reports of similar problems with certain Bluetooth devices. Have you tried pairing the Yamaha soundbar to a real Mac and observing its wake-from-sleep behavior?

Thanks, I'm going for what you suggested with a new SSD.

As a side note, while I was setting all this up, I accidentally renamed my Catalina disk as 'parallels'. I have now renamed it back to Catalina.

However the OpenCore Boot screen still shows the disk as 'parallels' even after re-setting NVRAM.

Any ideas how to correct this?

Unfortunately I don't have a real mac :)
Alternatively is there a way to write and execute a shell script when the system wake up and that would force a reconnection to the soundbar?

Good choice. Big Sur is buggy. On my Z490 Vision D, for example, Safari is unable to load most websites:

Try going to System Preferences --> Startup Disk and selecting (or re-selecting) the Catalina disk.
