@CaseySJ Is it actually problematic to enable FileVault? I've disabled it so far, just in case.

I believe FileVault is functional, but I've not used it myself. Instructions for enabling FileVault are provided in the Dortania guide.

I already tried that once (and it seemed to work without any problems) but decided to keep it disabled after I reinstalled. I'm not quite sure if it's a good idea to enable it.

Well, I'm just a day late and a dollar short!

I've only had the system built less than a week, and everything seems really good so far. Most of my work is cloud/web based, so no real shockers that everything is good on that front.

One issue I've noticed is that waking from sleep causes some very degraded internet connectivity. Rebooting solves this issue, but no amount of use seems to resolve the issue. I'm wondering if this is possibly hardware or software related. I opted for the YOUBO card, because I thought this card was to address the issue. I have no problem purchasing a different BT/WiFi solution if there is one that is more stable.

The BT seems to work flawlessly - computer wakes from my Magic KB and Trackpad

For Wifi, turning wifi off/on in the OS doesn't seem to fix the problem either.

In the short term, I suppose I can have my computer never sleep to see if this is cause/effect.

The build guide already includes a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, albeit for iGPU to drive a DP monitor. In your case, you're using the same kind of cable but connecting your AMD GPU (DisplayPort) to a USB-C monitor, effectively using the cable in reverse.

The first thing to do is uncheck Wake for Network Access and reboot. Then please try sleep/wake again.

That is true, it's much less likely that a desktop gets stolen. On a real Mac, I would definitely activate FileVault though.

Because the boot process is stalling shortly after gIOScreenLockState, the problem most likely lies somewhere in the video display chain. Thunderbolt monitors are more complicated and possibly more troublesome than simple DP 1.2/1.4 and HDMI 2.0 monitors. If the Thunderbolt monitor provides DP and HDMI inputs, then we should use those inputs before using the Thunderbolt input.

Other general suggestions:

• Check that the video cable is certified for DP 1.2/1.4 or HDMI 2.0
• If the monitor has a Reset option in its on-board menu, select that
• Consider re-creating the USB install disk

Unfortunately the "continue" option is not visible and pressing "Enter" does not start the process.
Any idea?

Are you using RX 5700 XT?

It seems as if MacOS is struggling to connect to this monitor. Do you have a simple monitor like 1080p or 2560x1440 or even flat screen TV?

Please try using DisplayPort as well.

3840*1080 resolution means the installer is trying to use 1920x540 HiDPI mode. 540 is not tall enough to show the entire "Install macOS Catalina" window. Shouldn't the installer be smart enough to choose 3840x1080 low resolution mode? Well, there's no Display preferences panel in the installer so you need a different method to force a different screen resolution:

Set the display to PBP mode so that it will connect as 2560x1440. Then you should be able to see the entire window.
