Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

hey @pastrychef - how do you think this build would go/what do I have to consider if I dropped in a PowerColor Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil Ultimate 16GB RDNA 2?

If you install a compatible version of a NAVI21 card, it should work OOB as long as you are using macOS 11.4 or newer.

When purchasing a NAVI21 card, be careful and choose only XTX cards. XTXH and EXT cards are not currently working. However, some have reported successfully flashing the firmware on XTXH cards to get them working. IMO, just get one that works OOB...

Clover EFI updated to r5136

• Kexts updated to latest release versions

Opencore EFI updated to 0.7.0

• Kexts updated to latest release versions

I highly suggest testing new EFIs from a USB flash drive before replacing your existing, working EFI. Also, it's a good idea to clear NVRAM a few times when moving to a new EFI.

The Samsung 970 EVO Plus should be fine if you update the firmware.

The Samsung 970 Pro is one of the best.

I also have a Western Digital SN750 Black which is great.

I have Samsung 860 EVO, I was using it since December 2019 ///

If I take the SSD out and put it in a disk reader, it works normal, but not in computer ...

I will make some more tests and may be buy Samsung 970 Pro. if this solves my problems...

I'm not sure what to do this point, I had this issue last year when I first builded my hack, it worked for a month or so, then, I can't boot or see the M.2 SATA drive in BIOS ... I can use the problematic Samsung 860 SATA with the USB enclosure device in my MacBook Pro... I'm not sure what to do? If the drive is bad, it shouldn't work with the USB device right? Should I buy another SATA NVMe drive? Or backup everything and try to update my current Samsung 860 Pro ?

I’ve got one WD SN750. I’ll try one clean install on it. Do I have to update this SSD, too ? I've checked their site. I have to find a PC to use Western Digital Dashboard software.
Did you do anything special to yours when you used it, pastry chef ??

I never had to update the firmware on my SN750.

That's cosmetic and doesn't affect performance or functionality.

You can change it to say anything you like. Please see the bottom of post #3 for instructions. Look for "How to populate System Information > PCI".
