Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

I tried iStat, but my results looked like yours, everything around 90 degrees. That didn't make sense, because when I booted back to the bios, the bios reported cpu temp at 25C(cpu basically idle). iState also would give me the same result of 90C whether I had just booted the PC on or had just watched a youtube video, done a CPU benchmark, etc. I may temporarily drop in FakeSMC just to see what it reports with HWmonitor

Is there any guide for installing dualboot Windows?
Should I go with normal Windows installation after unpluging Mac drive?
Can windows boot from clover or should I change boot order from bios?


I have Catalina on M.2 drive, and 120 GB SSD for Windows.
The 120 GB SSD had my mac install before, I cloned it to the new M.2 drive.

Installation from pendrive seems to fail.
I can't start install after formating the drive.
I can start it after simply deleting partition, but it fails in the next step.

I got it once to copy the files by creating smaller partition then the drive (around 80GB)
But after first installation it failed giving same error as before.

I wonder if it is a issue with install drive or wrong files system on SSD (GPT/MBR)

Mine are around 90 because I set it to Fahrenheit.

Yeah, you can just do a regular Windows installation. Try to ensure that it's doing a UEFI installation.

@Chronosee : I’ve always had difficulty making a bootable Windows installer USB after downloading the ISO. If you have access to a Windows machine, there is a free utility called Rufus that does a great job making the drive.

After you’ve successfully installed Windows, plug your Mac OS drive back in, then in the BIOS you have to specify the boot order.

If you’re using OpenCore, you have to set the Startup Disk to your Mac OS drive. Or if you’re using Clover, you need to specify the boot volume using Clover Configurator so that by default, the bootloader will select your Mac OS drive.

System was inaudible from sitting distance until I installed it. It's making a high pitch sounds.
Any idea if it's normal?

I am hoping you mean by noise, that it is coming from your speakers and not directly from the drive! The drive should be silent because it has no moving parts.

If it's your speakers, it's a pretty common problem because the audio signals follow paths that aren't properly shielded, so they pick up some interference. You can try switching out audio cables, but if the interference is coming from the motherboard, it may not help. I can pick up interference with my headphones on my rig.

You can try different audio drivers, but I would recommend to stay with AppleALC because it is kept up to date.

Otherwise, you can try a USB audio solution.

I managed to install Windows . Making instal partition on SSD and running installer from SSD made it .

When I boot to Windows, should I just pick windows partition using Clover?
Or change the boot order from BIOS?

Either way can work.

1. Spam F12 after powering up the computer to get the BIOS boot menu and you can select whichever drive you want to boot from.
2. Leave everything alone and let the Clover boot menu load and you can select whichever drive you want to boot from.
