Software used:

UniBeast 9.2.0, MultiBeast 11.3.0

Install macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (6.05GB)

Clover Configurator app version 5.5.0.0

Z390_Mini_ITX_EFI from benmingli Mini ITX build 12/22/2018 tonymacx86.com

Because of earlier unsucessful installation attempts with the RX580 card, it was decided to install

using the integrated video on the Gaming X board with HDMI hookup to the monitor. After

installation of Mojave 10.14.6, the Radeon video card was installed and activated.

A USB 3 drive was used for the installer drive and was connected to a USB 3 port instead of a

USB 2 port due to installation stalling..

Creation of Installer USB Flash Drive With Modifications

Wth a USB 3 drive placed into a USB 3 port, the installer USB drive was completed based on the

following tonymacx86.com UniBeast procedure:

UniBeast: “Install macOS Mojave on Any Supported Intel-based PC”

The UniBeast installed EFI was then replaced with benmingli’s Z390_Mini_ITX_EFI. From this EFI its

config.plist was placed onto a Clover Configurator image. In the resulting SMBIOS section, a new

System Serial Number was generated and then checked in the Check Coverage selection to verify

that the new serial number was non-Apple valid.

The completed procedure resulted in an installer USB name of:

Install macOS Mojave which contained Z390_Mini_ITX_EFI, install macOS Mojave

Image, MultiBeast-11.3.0-Mojave-Edition.zip and Clover Configurator

Optional Pre-preparation Before BIOS Changes Based on Initial Installation Trials

and Errors

It was determined that the installation process would be more sucessful if initially, an original factory

default was applied to the computer board as follows:

Disconnecting the power cord from the power supply

Pressing the power switch for about 15 seconds

Applying a jumper (such as a screwdriver blade) between two CLR_CMOS pins for a few seconds

Reconnecting the power cord to the power supply

When powered on, repeatedly press Delete key. Display will indicate BIOS as being reset

Press F7 for optimized defaults > yes and then make BIOS changes as noted in BIOS Review

Example of Installation of Mojave 10.14.6 Unto The Computer SSD

Initial Installation

1. Exchanged the working computer ssd with a new or cleaned ssd (I temporarily named

moj146” and connected internet to ethernet port.

2. Inserted installer USB 3 drive Install macOS Mojave into a USB 3 port.

3. Powered on and after Clover boot screen appeared, selected “Install macOS Mojave”

(noted by UEFI USB Disk 3.0 PMAP, Partition 1)

4. A short filling bar (about 2-minute duration) appeared.

Next a longer filling bar (about one-minute duration.

Then a restart.

5. Then a macOS Utilities display appeared > selected: Disk Utility > continue

On left side of Disk Utility selected target ssd (eg moj146) > erase

For name: I retained moj146

For Format: MacOS Extended (Journaled) or APFS

Pressed erase > done > quit Disk Utility

6. A macOS Utilities display again appeared > selected: install macOS > continue

A round Mojave image appeared > continue

Then > agree > agree > selected: moj146 > install

A filling bar appeared and initially showed about 5 minutes remaining. Then a restart

Expanded Installation

7. On the restart selected: “Boot macOS Install from moj146” > enter.

Two consequetive filling bars of short duration appeared.

Next, an empty bar appeared with an indicateed initial 13 minutes remaining time. The bar

remained empty for a short duration and then restarted

Note: Up to six restarts occurred before success. As an indication of possible success, the

duration of restart number 5 was much longer at 90 seconds compared to about

nominal 30 seconds for each of the previous four restarts. Then in the last restart

number 6, the empty bar started to fill with a remaining time of 12-minutes displayed.

At the end of this successful expanded installation a restart followed. In previous

attempts, up to 10 restarts were completed without success thus requiring the factory

default process previously mentioned.

8. A Clover boot screen appeared and selected “Boot macOS from moj146” > enter

A filling bar appeared followed by set up instructions.

9. Installation continued with selection of welcome/ United States/ keyboard/ Data & Privacy/

transfer information etc/ sign in etc/ terms and conditions/ create a computer account/

express setup/ Setting Up Your Mac.

10. Went to finder > preference > selected “hard drives” to display moj146 ssd on screen.

Multibeast Installations

MultiBeast 11.3.0 Settings:

Quick Start > UEFI Boot Mode

Drivers >

Audio > AppleALC

Misc > FakeSMC Plugin

Misc > FakeSMC HWMonitor Application

Network > Intel > IntelMausiEthernet v2.4.0

USB > 3 rd Party USB 3.0

USB > Remove XHCI USB Port Limit

USB > USBinjectAll

Customize > System Definition > iMac > iMac 14,2

Installed settings and then closeed MultiBeast. Made following post changes before restarting.

Post Changes made to insure restarts by using Clover Configurator to copy EFI on USB installer drive to replace the EFI on the installation Mojave

10.14.6
ssd.

Opened Clover Configurator on USB installer “Install macOS Mojave

1. Selected Mount EFI

2. To EFI on install macOS Mojavr (USB installer\) > Mount Partition

3. After pressing Mount Partition and signing in > Open Partition

4. To “EFI on APFS Container etc, etc (SSD) > Mount Partition

5. After pressing Mount Partition and signing in > Open Partitio

6. Copy the contents from the USB installer EFI volume to the Mojave 10.14.6 SSD

EFI Volume as follows:

First, delete the Mojave 10.14.6 SSD EFI Volume. Then place a copy of

the USB installer EFI volume into the emptied space on the Mojave 10.14.6 SSD

EFI Volume and close the USB installer drive.

7. Remove the USB installer drive and restart to verify operation and then shutdown.

8. Installed Radeon RX580 card, disconnect HDMI cable from integrated video

HDMI port on the Gaming X board and then connected cable to the RX580 card.

Results

Internal and HDMI audios worked satisfactorily. However, the following USB 3 port selections had to be repeated on MultiBeast 11.3.0:

USB > 3 rd Party USB 3.0

USB > Remove XHCI USB Port Limit

USB > USBinjectAll

There is a problem with computer shutdown. Instead of shutting down completely, the computer

restarts. A remedy is pending

Geekbench results without overclocking are shown below.

Hi kejan,

I've got the exact same setup as yours but I'm struggling to find a way to have the UDH 630 to work properly. I either end up with a black screen at the end of the boot, or I don't have the acceleration working.

Could you share your config.plist please?

to llambeau

If after macOS Mojave is initially installed from your installer Mojave flash drive unto your system ssd/harddrive and you have a black screen after a boot, try a reset to restart the computer. Redo load Optimized Default and followup BIOS setup. Save and after restart, select your system SSD/harddrive.

I do not have the requested config.plist since I no longer have the installed macOS Mojave installer flash drive due to a changeover to macOS Catalina install attempts.
However, you can reconstruct the same config.plist I used which is found in
Z390_Mini_ITX_EFI obtained from Tonymacx96 Forum > User Build > Mini ITX Z390 I Aorus Pro etc by benmingli(Dec 22, 2019) > attachment. Within the config.plist part of this EFI I changed the System serial number. A another approach, delete the
serial number.

Hi,

I followed your steps and got everything working, at first i couldnt get the computer to sleep as with wake up or reboot right after, but disabling the onboard graphics on bios and now sleep works fine!
