Gigabyte X79 UD5 LGA 2011 Installation Guide:
Rule #1 Follow Stork's Guide Always!!
That is the only rule ; )
Download the latest version of UniBeast 3 & MultiBeast 6 for Mavericks;
Log into the Apple MAS and download Mavericks;
Prepare the UniBeast USB thumb drive using (of course) UniBeast 3.0, but don't run it yet;
Put MultiBeast for Mavericks on your UniBeast USB thumb drive;
Now, repair Permissions on your current OS X drive using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
Backup your current system with Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
Insert the UniBeast USB thumb drive and reboot;
****Please note I have GTX 650Ti Video Card in the far right slot closest to the CPU so you night need to change a boot flag if you have a different video card..etc.
Installation boot flag I used:
"-v -x GraphicsEnabler=No npci=0x3000 cpus=1"
Here is a rundown of the MultiBeast 6.0.0 settings that worked on my UD5 X79 with GTX650ti:
1: Adjust org.chameleon.Boot.plist in the string in the <string>darkwake=0 </string> line to include "npci=0x2000"like so <string>darkwake=0 npci=0x2000</string>"
2: Bootloaders > Install Latest Chimera
3: Drivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA
4: Drivers > Audio 898 (without DSDT)
5: Drivers > Network > hnak for network
6: Drivers > Disk > Trim enabler 10.9 (if you have ssd - I do have a OCZ Vertex 4 and love it)
7: Drivers > System > AppleACPIPlatform Rollback =10.8.1 Rollback
8: Drivers > Misc > USB 3.0 -Universal
9: Customize > Boot Options > Instant Menu
10: Customize > SDDT Options > Sandy Bridge Core i7
11: Customize > GraphicsEnabler=No since I could not boot properly without using that boot flag (Don't worry about this with latest Multibeast)
12: Repair disk permissions with disk utility
Everything works flawlessly -sound,network, ssd - I have RME Fireface 800 audio hardware so I don't mess with on board audio anyway.
Rebooted and it runs just fine now.
Just FYI here is my working org.chameleon.Boot.plist in case someone else updates the UD5 X79 board to 10.9:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>darkwake=0 npci=0x2000</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Instant Menu</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>
This was way easier than the 10.8.5 update - however the 10.8.5 update is the same for mavericks. Really appreciate everyones help!!
If anyone gets stuck with this board and gets stuck please message me. Will do what I can to help you out. Also if this helped you or messed you up please let em know.
