I know this is an older topic, but I wanted to BUMP for success.

It took me 6-7 installs to test different ways to get the sound to work. After following this guide EXACTLY, I now have a fully functioning Mac.

KUDOS for your help, and I recommend this site to anyone.

My first post here, so hello all.

So I have the same mobo and using GeForce 8800 GT. I tried Radeon 4850x2, but no joy and I didn't want to spend too much time on it.

Spent 1/2 the night and a few hours this morning doing my first SL install on PC. Several tries before this current one that seems to work. My biggest problem was audio, but thanks to this post, fixed that. So all in all, I spent about 10-12 hours over the last couple days and several installs (which I expected) and so far everything seems ok.

I just installed FCP, among other minor programs, and I'll be testing that tonight (maybe).

Also using Cirago bluetooth dongle (the real tiny one) and it worked right away and mouse is good to go!

THANKS!!!! This is the guide I was looking for. And thanks to the entire site. I'll post that on a general thread, too.

@ pigboyp420 yes your card xfx 9600 gt 512 awesome, support oob in osx

is it necessary to remove da graphics card (xfx 9600gt 512 mb) while installation

EDIT-Actually when I saw this thread viewtopic.php?f=79&t=16323 I cancelled my order and decided to go with a GA-P67A-D3-B3 and i5-2500K combo for just $50 more... thanks anyway!

caryweaver, thanks for the install guide! I just ordered the following from newegg and I'm hoping that it will go smoothly with your guide. I'm planning to install Windows 7 64 bit first (to a drive attached to sata2_1) and make sure all the hardware is working. Would you recommend I take out the windows drive and replace it with a new drive to install os x on or can I just add a new drive to sata2_0 and dual boot? Thanks again!

Sorry that I haven't responded to the last few posts, haven't been on the site in a while. I'm no expert, just a total noob that had success using parts of different guides that I found an put together.

As far as different graphics cards go... I am sure there are plenty of cards that have full support OOB, but i was trying to build as much of a ultra-budget machine as possible. The guide I posted worked for me, with the components listed. And I have been using my hack EVERYDAY - about 8-10 hours per day through the week since I wrote this guide - ZERO issues. Works like a mac should.

I ahven't ventured into dual booting yet, but have an extra 500gb HDD that I will be adding for dual-boot purposes, don't want to mess with installing to a partition.

I tried two different bluetooth dongles and neither worked. I have back-burnered that idea for now.

I did get wireless working via a Linksys WUSB-100 V.2 dongle using this guide:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=200544&st=0&p=1498154&#entry1498154
Follow it exactly and it will work great!

Good luck to you

Did you follow the guide exactly as it was written?

I don't have an additional graphics card for this mobo; but now I cant boot after update and installation of multi beast. The wheel just spins endless with and without iboot disc. Would I still need to follow same procedures w/o graphics card?
