Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

F13 to F14 and freeze entire pc.
I have this problem too, but also on F13 (i think also on F10) and the only way to make it works is to boot first on Windows and then reboot to Mac. Did you see if your wifi was enabled before the freeze?

Anyone OpenCore with dual boot Win/OSX? I'm encountering strange freeze at first boot on hackintosh after a minute I reach the Desktop. It happens 2/4 of the time. I think is related to Windows: if I shutdown the PC from Windows and then after a short period I turn on it choosing OSX as first boot, I encountering strange behaviors like Wireless Intel not working, Thunderbolt, too. (But I can see the device on IOReg, strange fact.) Then it freezes. (I have just 1 or 2 minutes before the freeze to check all of this. xD I also have the time to save an IOReg.) Any ideas?
After the freeze I have to force reboot. When I come back after Windows restart, I see the kernel panic image ,and then I have the report log. I've shared it below:

I have this problem too, but also on F13 (i think also on F10) and the only way to make it works is to boot first on Windows and then reboot to Mac. Did you see if your wifi was enabled before the freeze?
Yes, for me is the same problem on F13. I boot on Big Sur first; I reboot on Windows for working Bluetooth and Thunderbolt devices; and next rebooted on Big Sur for all working. I didn't check if it is WiFi is the because of freeze on F14. I will stay on F13 for the moment. Is not the most simply but it works. ;)

Hello all,

I had some hackintosh issues a little while back and was able sort them out. I'm building a new system and have come across some issues. The system in question is a Gigabyte B550M Aorus Pro-P, with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x and a MSI Radeon Rx 580 GPU. I'm using OC 0.7.8 and followed the OC carefully. My issue is I'm getting an Apple SMC Panic. It's been awhile in my hackintosh days since I've had that panic. This is the first AMD hack I've tried, well actually not the first. The first one I tried I was using an unsupported cpu, the Ryzen 5600G. Live and learn, right? Anyway, what might be the issue?

Thanks for the help.

Hello all,

I solved my issue from above. Redid my EFI folder and installed Monterey. I do have 1 issue though. The cpu fan cycling high RPM and then the next minute running normally. I'm not putting a load on the system. seems like it does it whenever it wants to. Do I need some AMD specific kexts to control that?

Thanks,
Steve

Have you tried AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement from trulyspinach?
Instructions:
  • Download AMD.Power.Gadget.app.zip and install in Applications folder.
  • Download AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement.kext.zip and copy kext to EFI/OC/Kexts folder.
  • Download SMCAMDProcessor.kext.zip and copy kext to EFI/OC/Kexts folder as well.
Then in config.plist --> Kernel section add two entries:
  • One for AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement.kext
  • One for SMCAMDProcessor.kext
The order should be:
  • Lilu
  • VitualSMC
  • AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement
  • SMCAMDProcessor
After rebooting, you can run AMD Power Gadget from Applications folder. Please note that the following should not be used because they're for Intel boards only:
  • SMCProcessor.kext
  • SMCSuperIO.kext

Instructions:
  • Download AMD.Power.Gadget.app.zip and install in Applications folder.
  • Download AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement.kext.zip and copy kext to EFI/OC/Kexts folder.
  • Download SMCAMDProcessor.kext.zip and copy kext to EFI/OC/Kexts folder as well.
Then in config.plist --> Kernel section add two entries:
  • One for AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement.kext
  • One for SMCAMDProcessor.kext
The order should be:
  • Lilu
  • VitualSMC
  • AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement
  • SMCAMDProcessor
After rebooting, you can run AMD Power Gadget from Applications folder. Please note that the following should not be used because they're for Intel boards only:
  • SMCProcessor.kext
  • SMCSuperIO.kext
Thanks Casey! I grabbed the app and seems to be working well. However I do have a couple of issues. Not all of my USB ports are working. Specifically the USB 2.0 ports. On this mobo I have 4 on the back at the top. I have my USB ports mapped and kext file added and config.plist updated. All the USB 3.0 and 3.2 are working fine. It's not a huge deal, but would like to have them all working. At least to use a USB keyboard and mouse without taking up USB 3.0 ports. The second is sleep isn't working. It tries to go into sleep mode, but CPU fan speeds up for a second and the calms down and doesn't go to sleep. Any idea why it won't sleep?

Thanks,
Steve

Some comments:
  • USB port mapping on AMD Ryzen is more complicated than on Intel because there are usually two USB controllers.
  • Have you mapped both USB controllers?
  • Regarding sleep, it may be due to (a) insufficient USB port mapping and/or (b) issue with a GPP1 or some such root device. Please provide output of this command: pmset -g log | tail -750 > ~/Documents/sleeplog.txt.
    • This will create a file in Documents called sleeplog.txt
    • Please post that file

With USB ports, I'm not sure if I did or not. I know while doing it there were a lot of ports listed. I just put in either USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 device and looked to see if it popped up or not. Would both controllers show up in Hackintool, or need to add usb device controller in config.plist? So just checked Hackintool and 1 USB 3.0 controller shows up by name and the other just has ???. The one that has a name is listed by type as XHCO. The other listed as PTXH with ??? under name. Yeah, I may not have mapped them correctly for an Ryzen system.

With the sleep, here's the txt file.

Thanks,
Steve

We should not use Hackintool for USB port mapping. Instead, it’s better to use IORegistryExplorer. When a USB 2 or USB 3 device is connected, it will show up in green under one of the two USB controllers (XHC0 or PTXH). We can then build a table as shown in this post:
The first 5 columns are needed (“Type Remap” does not apply right now so it can be ignored). Then I can help you with the USB port map.

Regarding sleep, let’s finish the port map then get back to this issue. We should actually run that terminal command after inducing sleep. When the system wakes up, then the command should be run.
