Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

Hello, ok, downloaded the EFI F13 for OC 0.7.6, configured as per instructions and booted without issues.
I have not internet connections, but that is because I have different Ethernet ports. It is not an issue, I know how to set them properly, as well as the Intel AX200.

Sleeping is definitely a problem because I setup the monitor power off to 3 mins., just to test. After three minutes the system halted and rebooted.

The system looks like very unstable: I launched OpenCore configurator to mount the EFI partition on the USB, the system crashed and reboot.
Okay, let's comment-out all device properties by putting a # in front of each item, like this:
Screen Shot 2022-01-09 at 3.15.45 PM.png

If using Intel WiFi/BT, disable these two kexts:
Screen Shot 2022-01-09 at 3.17.45 PM 1.png

Then reboot and see if system is stable.

Hello, just tried what you suggested.
The first time, I got a hard (unexpectedly) restart few minutes after logged in.
Just trying the second boot
I have this following.

image.jpg

I had then restarted and that weird video effect disappeared.
So strange.

System preferences opened:
Crashed (the app I meant) after a bunch of seconds.

I have been working for about 1,5 hrs right now, no other issues so far. I did not try sleep obviously. :)
Now it is time to go bed. I'll check other things tomorrow evening.

** OpenCore 0.7.7 EFI **
Gigabyte B550 Vision D & D-P / Gigabyte X570S Aero G / ASRock X570 Taichi

Supports Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey
Please do not quote this post in its entirely. Use a link instead.

Also available from HackinDROM

Please use OpenCore Configurator 2.56.0.0 and ensure that it's set to
0.7.7 Release Version

When using OpenCore Configurator, ensure that only one EFI partition is mounted

Monterey -- What Does Not Work:
  • Both Intel I-211 Ethernet ports driven by SmallTreeIntel82576 are not working at this time. If an Ethernet port is needed, options include:
    • USB to Gigabit Ethernet adapter
    • USB to 2.5GbE Ethernet adapter
    • USB-C dock with built-in Ethernet port
    • Thunderbolt dock with built-in Ethernet port
  • Laird BT851 Bluetooth 5.0 USB dongle not working at this time.
  • Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter is not working because it requires AppleVTD, which is not available on AMD Ryzen platforms.
  • Antelope Audio Thunderbolt interfaces do not work on AMD Ryzen platforms because they also require AppleVTD.
  • If Monterey is installed on Samsung NVMe SSDs, boot time can increase by 60-100 seconds due to "trim" incompatibilty.
    • This can be addressed by cloning the Samsung NVMe SSD to another disk, erasing the Samsung NVMe SSD with Disk Utility, and cloning macOS back. Please be careful with this process if you decide to do it.
  • Crucial P2 NVMe SSDs (only P2 series) also suffer from trim issues in Monterey.
Refer to this post by @macleap for workarounds.

This Update Includes:
  • OpenCore 0.7.7
  • AppleALC 1.6.8
  • Lilu 1.5.9
  • WhateverGreen 1.5.6
  • RestrictEvents 1.0.6
Instructions:
  • Download appropriate ZIP file and follow these instructions to configure config.plist.
  • If "Resizable BAR Support" is enabled in BIOS, set ResizableAppleGpuBars to 0 in Booter quirks.
  • Replace CC with actual core count in the threekernel patches shown below. Use hex numbers. (HackinDROM will do this automatically.)
    • 6 core processor = 06
    • 8 core processor = 08
    • 12 core processor = 0C
    • 16 core processor = 10
Screen Shot 2022-01-14 at 6.45.56 AM.png

  • Copy EFI folder to EFI partition of USB flash disk and boot from USB flash disk.
  • Ensure that REL-077-xxx appears on bottom right corner of OpenCanopy Picker.
  • If everything is okay, mount the EFI partition of USB flash disk and internal macOS SSD, then copy EFI folder from USB flash disk to internal macOS SSD.
Things to Test or Check:
  • Any OCS or other warnings before OpenCore picker appears?
  • Does Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey boot properly?
  • Does Bluetooth work? Can you enable and disable Bluetooth?
  • Does Bluetooth work if you (a) boot into Windows and then (b) boot into macOS without doing a cold start?
  • If you use "Resizable BAR Support" in Windows, try enabling that in BIOS and check if macOS boots properly.

Catalina Users:
  • Set SecureBootModel to Disabled.

I've added experimental support for B550 Vision D-P (OpenCore 0.7.7) in the post above.

Anyone OpenCore with dual boot Win/OSX? I'm encountering strange freeze at first boot on hackintosh after a minute I reach the Desktop. It happens 2/4 of the time. I think is related to Windows: if I shutdown the PC from Windows and then after a short period I turn on it choosing OSX as first boot, I encountering strange behaviors like Wireless Intel not working, Thunderbolt, too. (But I can see the device on IOReg, strange fact.) Then it freezes. (I have just 1 or 2 minutes before the freeze to check all of this. xD I also have the time to save an IOReg.) Any ideas?
After the freeze I have to force reboot. When I come back after Windows restart, I see the kernel panic image ,and then I have the report log. I've shared it below:

I've added experimental support for B550 Vision D-P (OpenCore 0.7.7) in the post above.

Just updated my B550 build using HackinDROM, I use the Vision D-P EFI. Booted 1st time.

Hey @CaseySJ really thank you for that.
Downloaded the EFI folder and installed on my USB stick.
The system boots correctly, it looks like stable.
I have just tested rear USB ports by mounting and unmounting a WD passport 4TB external disk: I have an issue regarding the first USB Type-C port.

Hot-plug is not working, but the disk is not been recognized even on cold-plug. Other USB ports are running as expected.

I remember some days ago I was able, with another EFI folder built myself, to get this port running without issues.
@craighazan: I read we have the same motherboard, are your USB ports running correctly?

I haven't tried sleep/wake task so far, because I wanna fix this issue first.

Thank you!
Bye.

Yes they seem to be running fine, I used to have an issue them dropping randomly, but I think that was a BIOS issue and having since updated to 14e I haven’t had any problems. My motherboard is the Gigabyte-B550M DS3H using the Vision D-P EFI.

Couple of thoughts:
  • Does the WD Passport connect to the other USB-C port on the rear IO panel?
  • With the WD Passport connected to a port that works, please run IORegistryExplorer and see if you can find the device. If so, post a screenshot of that section. Or feel free to post the entire IOReg file (File --> Save As...).

Hello @CaseySJ,
yes, my WD Passport connects to the other USB-C port. The only USB port not working is the one I had highlighted.

Here is the screenshot of IORegistryExplorer, don't know if it is what you had intended.
The disk is connected to the working USB-C port.

Furthermore, I connected the disk to another USB-A port, by inspecting Hackintool app I see the speed is not correct: it shows 480 Mbps.
