Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

Hi there, was also trying to upgrade to windows 11, and following CaseySJ's guide, I got it done!
and also with some google-ing, I installed it without upgrading to newer BIOS by bypassing the TPM.
I used the alternative method down below by getting in the regedit and adding values.
hope it helps
Keep in mind that those RegEdit workarounds may not work in a future Windows 11 update.

Over the top. Par for the course! :)

$799 for the Crosshair VIII Extreme (X570). Available on Aug 30. Haven't seen the price for X570 ProArt yet.

P.S. I've been thinking of replacing my ASRock X570 Taichi with one of these new Asus boards. Haven't decided yet, but if I do, I'll sell the Taichi and use the same case, cooler, memory, power supply, and NVMe SSDs.
The new Asus ProArt X570-CREATOR will retail for US$429.99 starting August 30 September 6. This is extremely tempting...that's all I'll say for now. ;)

  • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one DP-In port
  • WiFi 6E / BT 5.2
  • 10GbE and 2.5GbE
  • 3 M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0 on all)
  • HDMI port with 4K60 support
  • One internal USB-C Type E header
  • Three internal USB 2.0 headers
  • Does not have SPDIF/Optical output
The over-the-top Crosshair VIII Extreme (US$799) offers these extras:
  • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports and two DP-In ports
  • WiFi 6E / BT 5.2
  • 10GbE and 2.5GbE
  • 5 M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0 on all) -- 3 slots on motherboard, 2 slots on DIMM.2 riser card
  • HDMI port with 4K60 support
  • Two internal USB-C Type E headers (never seen that before; one of the ports offers PD3.0 60W charging)
  • Two internal USB 2.0 headers
  • Has SPDIF/Optical output
  • DIMM.2 slot

Hi CaseySJ, thank you for your reply!

Yes, I tried it. And I just confirmed it several times.

If I plug TB3 cord directly in Titan Ridge 1.0 (tb1 or tb2), and remove the DP to DP cord, under my current BIOS settings, the LG Ultrafine 5K does not respond after the boot, no output, no backlight.

I remember that this happened after I flashed The Titan Ridge 1.0. Attached the firmware I use.
Regarding the 5 problems you reported:
  • P1. After macOS sleeps and wakes up, the LG 5K built-in camera, audio, USB, and brightness all lose their functions.
  • P2. A week ago it was normal for Windows to wake up, but now there is a problem that it cannot be woken up.
  • P3. With a USB Cherry RGB keyboard plugged in, macOS will wake up immediately when sleeps, unplug the keyboard makes it normal.
  • P4. The Opencore Picker shows no Windows items, but there is an EFI/ESP partition in the Windows NVME, and I can boot in to it via the BIOS booting menu.
  • P5. The iGPU and the Maple Ridge are not supported yet, as known.
P1:
  • After waking macOS from sleep, what happens if you disconnect-and-reconnect the LG UltraFine Thunderbolt cable?
P3:
  • Can you provide a link to the RGB keyboard you're using?
P4:
  • What Scan Policy are you currently using in config.plist?

Hi CaseySJ, thanks for your help!

After the reconnection, all the LG 5K USB devices are still lost:

P3:
  • Can you provide a link to the RGB keyboard you're using?
It's a Cherry MX Board 3.0 S Amazon Link Official website

P4:
  • What Scan Policy are you currently using in config.plist?
Like this, do I need to check the SAS and Mac NVMe item?

Update: I changed the Scan Policy value to 2689795, but still no Windows boot item.

Please try setting Scan Policy to 0. If Windows still does not appear, then:

Step 1:
  • Is Windows installed on its own dedicated SSD?
  • Does that SSD have an EFI partition?
  • If so, please run macOS and mount the Windows EFI partition using any appropriate Mac utility.
  • Is there an EFI folder inside the EFI partition?
  • If so, please expand that folder and post a screenshot.
Step 2:
  • Mount EFI partition of the macOS SSD
  • Open the EFI folder inside the macOS EFI partition
  • Is there a Windows folder located there?

Hi CaseySJ,
I set the Scan Polity to 0, and the Windows showed up!
Thank you so much!

And I verified the issue on another MBP, same result: with the Cherry keyboard plugged in, my MBP won't sleep.
It's weird.
