I haven't been able to fire it up yet since I'm still waiting for parts of the cooling loop. Corsair has been shipping items direct from China, so my 3-way splitter, drain valve, and 45 degree fittings are stuck in Customs somewhere. I'm also waiting for the blue coolant to arrive next week. Big sad! :-X

Monterey Public Beta 7 FINALLY Installed!

I have installed Monterey Public Betas prior to Beta 7 on my B550 Vision D without difficulties. However, with other hackintosh builds others had reported that OC 0.7.4 was required to install Beta 7, and that had worked for me.

So I installed OC 0.7.4 on this B550 Vision D, and attempted to update to Beta 7. However, Software Update kept showing that Monterey was up to date, and refused to offer Beta 7.

I was about to give up when a post on another TonyMac forum suggested changing the config.plist Misc -> Security -> SecureBootModel value. I copied my working config.plist to a USB stick and changed SecureBootModel from "Disabled" to J137 for iMacPro1,1.

I booted using the revised USB EFI, and Software Update finally displayed the Beta 7 update. I downloaded the update and at the first reboot I tried to reboot to the Macintosh HD drive in the OC picker using the revised USB EFI. However, the Apple logo appeared, but hung.

I rebooted and used the EFI on my boot drive which had Misc -> Security -> SecureBootModel set to "Disabled." With that the update completed satisfactorily and I finally have Monterey Public Beta 7 installed.

I am happy to confirm what @xtreem.p reported earlier. The SmallTreeIntel82576 kext again works with Beta 7 and I again have Ethernet available.

@CaseySJ Here is my OC for X570S AERO G BIOS x570S - minus the serials

#1/2 I have a StarTech Akikio and the Apple TB adapter..THEY ALL WORK HOT PLUGED, I just tried it. For me when I go from Windows to Monterey just doing hot plug is good, and I'm set when I get in macOS after a warm boot.
#3 Ethernet is 100 percent good
#4 No issues with sleep wake...

This is a very good audio motherboard, like I said before

My AMD for the new OC 0.7.4 is
Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor
@mrfatcatt,

It's really good to know that all of the following functions are working on Gigabyte X570S AERO G:
  • Thunderbolt hot plug
  • Sleep / wake
  • Ethernet
Because Gigabyte B550 Vision D is virtually impossible to find, especially at a decent price, the X570S AERO looks to be a totally viable alternative.

So I'll support the X570S AERO G from now on by adding it to HackinDROM.

Meanwhile please try the attached EFI folder that has been updated to OpenCore 0.7.3 for an 8-core CPU. Simply rename the top-level folder to EFI.

Update: Added to HackinDROM.

@CaseySJ Thought you might be interested in the status X570 of my build. I'm having some issues sourcing all the parts for the cooling loop, but the main components are finally in the case. My 6900 XT and power supply will be last pieces to go in since they are coming out of my current hackintosh. Unfortunately, this build is going to take a bit longer than expected to complete as we are in the process of moving out of state.

So far, the build includes:
  • Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme
  • Ryzen 5950X
  • 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe
  • Corsair
    • 5000D Airflow white case
    • Dual X5 360mm radiators
    • CPU XC7 & XG7 6900XT water blocks
    • 10 QL120 fans
    • XD5 Reservoir & pump
  • CableMod blue & silver custom cables for power delivery
Awesome! We'll wait patiently for the end result.

Wonderful! Will try this momentarily.

Update: Success!

@CaseySJ All is working on this new 073 hot plug as well as sleep!

Im NCMacGuy with no beta 7 showing. I cant wait unless you want me to verfiy a 074 build.

let me know ill be happy to help
glad this is working out!
Attached is the pre-release version of OpenCore 0.7.4. Steps needed for Monterey Public Beta 7:
  • Download and rename the top folder to just EFI
  • Copy serial numbers into config.plist --> PlatformInfo
  • Now we need to copy this EFI folder in two places:
    1. Copy it to the EFI partition of a USB flash disk -- but do not eject this EFI partition
    2. Copy it to the EFI partition of the internal macOS SSD -- then eject this EFI partition (very important)
  • Run latest version of OpenCore Configurator (v 2.25.0.0)
    • Then go its Settings menu and change it to OpenCore 0.7.4 Development Version (very important)
    • OpenCore Configurator will restart
  • OpenCore Configurator: Open config.plist from the EFI partition of the USB flash disk
    • Change SecureBootModel to j137 as shown and save the file
    • This change is only made to config.plist in the USB flash disk
Screen Shot 2021-09-25 at 1.16.56 PM.png

  • Keep the USB flash disk connected
  • Reboot
  • At the Gigabyte Splash Screen press F12 to open the BIOS Boot Menu and select the USB flash disk (very important)
  • When OpenCore Picker appears, boot Monterey as usual and log in
  • Go to System Preferences --> Software Update
  • You should now see the option to update to Public Beta 7; begin the process
  • While the update is downloading, eject the USB flash disk and remove it from the computer
  • We will no longer use the USB flash disk
  • The Beta 7 update should proceed automatically from this point

hmm, i did what you said and i was able to dl beta 7, upon relaunch and hitting the install partition it resets after 20 secs.

i think i need to confirm my hd efi is set and then do the following!

I rebooted and used the EFI on my boot drive which had Misc -> Security -> SecureBootModel set to "Disabled." With that the update completed satisfactorily and I finally have Monterey Public Beta 7 installed. which i think it is. ill double check ...

also note, I can use 0.74 to boot into existing beta and tb works like .73... looks fine.

Hi @mrfatcatt

Which Thunderbolt card are you using? GC-Titan Ridge, GC-Maple Ridge...?

Thanks
