Thanks for the heads up, man, but not even the bios screen shows up. Nor in windows 7, with ACD drivers already installed from boot camp (installed using hdmi display, of course)
Hi Giacomoleopardo,

I'm sure you're happy with your build as it is, but just a thought on the ACD from on board Mini DisplayPort. I've noticed my display(Dell U2711) works intermittently through the on board Mini DisplayPort at Bios, but, if I let it boot fully to desktop/login screen(or where I should see it since I only have one monitor!), I can sleep wake the machine through the power button and up it comes. I get the impression it's to do with the initialisation of the display. Just a thought.
I have the same problem with my older 23" ACD (DVI connection) using the GA-Z77-DS3H based system. It's something in GA's BIOS, me thinks. But, my ACD is now being used strictly for my Macs, and I'm using a couple 24 Dell Ultrasharps for my Z77 and Z68 systems in that setting which present the BIOS w/o any display problems. In my other setting, I use a Dell U2711 and a HP ZR24W, again, w/o any BIOS display problems.

Hey! Did anybody upgrade to 10.8.5 already? Did you run into any problems? Thanks!

Updated to 10.8.5 and use AppleHDA rollback to get sound working. However since updating to 10.8.5, the system no longer detect my WIFI (Atheros 9285 WIFI+BT combo which came with the board). I use DSDT injection for the Atheros 9285. I went back to 10.8.4 for now.

Thx for the quick reply! Did you have any problems with usb 3.0?

I did not test USB3.0 port because:
1) I do not have any USB 3.0 device to test with.
2) I did not have a chance to test USB2.0 device on USB3.0 port :)

HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!!!!! I know there's the issue with wi-fi at present with 10.8.5, but I'm just happy to report I wasn't going mad; turns out my motherboard was faulty(or I somehow damaged it). But recieved and fitted my replacement board today and am happy to report I now have full QE/CI and the displayport works in BIOS whereas it didn't before. I do have an issue with iMessage login, but am sure that is a software issue, so no complaints.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I'm not near my rig right now, but have a thought about the wifi issue after upgrading.

When I finally managed to successfully update my other system, it involved removing the "npci=0x3000" flag which I believe is linked to PCI Device configuration. This flag has been present since lion for this system, which suggests that 10.8.5 changes something linked to device detection. Keeping that in mind, is it possible that the AR9285 card is detected in a "different" location and as such the DSDT edit is in the wrong place? This comes to mind since I have an AR9280 card in my other system which is still fully functional after the update and I believe that this is the card the DSDT edits make the AR9285 emulate.

Just throwing it out there. will try to confirm when I have a chance.

Well, booting with DSDT=null and checking IOReg, the AR9285 is still located under RP01, so the edits are in the correct place. My best guess is that the AirPortAtheros40.kext has been updated to remove the ID that we patch to using the DSDT, although the kext shows as last modified 2 May 2013, so I'm not sure.

Anyhow, following Toleda's Guide, I have patched the kexts info.plist with the correct ID for the AR9285:

Code:
<string>pci168c,2b</string>

and all is beautiful again in wi-fi land. :)

I'll leave it to someone with more experience in such matters to figure out how to fix the DSDT Patch.

Observation wise, although I have been doing a lot of "clean" installs lately given my previous issues so may just have missed doing it, but I noticed after the update to 10.8.5 that I needed to re-patch the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri for port identification. But like I say, it maybe I just forgot to do it after most recent clean install.

Comparing IO802.11Family.kext between 10.8.4 and 10.8.5, there is an extra kext [AirPortBrcm4360.kext] in the plugins folder on 10.8.5, I am wondering if this has anything to do with 9285 half Mini card using injected DSDT not being detected. The other 4 are identical including versions.

10.8.5:
Code:
Contents
_CodeSignature
Info.plist
MacOS
IO80211Family
PlugIns
AirPortAtheros40.kext
AirPortBrcm4331.kext
AirPortBrcm4360.kext
AppleAirPortBrcm43224.kext
IO80211NetBooter.kext
version.plist

10.8.4:
Code:
Contents
_CodeSignature
Info.plist
MacOS
IO80211Family
PlugIns
AirPortAtheros40.kext
AirPortBrcm4331.kext
AppleAirPortBrcm43224.kext
IO80211NetBooter.kext
version.plist

UPDATE:

-Test 10.8.5 update again and SysInfo/Extension showing IO802.11Family kext is not loading.
-Use IO802.11Family from 10.8.4 same issue (no WIFI)

DPCIManager shows the system did detect the WIFIcard.
168C, 002B, 1A3B, 2C37, Qualcomm Atheros, AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express)

SO why isn't the 802.11Family kext NOT loading.

BTW I also have lots of error after updating to 10.8.5
