Yeah i am interested in the Motherboard because I would like to do a Z97 build here in a few days. Is the Z97 boards easier now? last time I had to send it back for an older z87 board. Anyone now how compatible z97 boards are?

The UD3H and 4690K works well as a pair. Just install first with HD4600 gfx, run Multibeast with
the DSDT free selection, Lan and audio kexts. Then if you've got an Nvidia card like a 960 or 970
download the web drivers for that and install. Not too difficult.

Make sure the BIOS is at the latest level otherwise the 4790K crashes the system under load. The rest is straight out the box.

Here's my multibeast for the Z97X UD5H which should be broadly the same.

I use a cheap USB sound key, iMic and ignore the onboard sound altogether. Works well and is dirt cheap.

What about a gaming series motherboard like perhaps the MSI Gaming 5 or the Gigabyte gaming 5?

I know that some have used those successfully. If what you want is in the B. Guide then it's
likely you can get it to work with Yosemite.
