• Avid Pro Tools 12.5.2
• Waves bundle
• Ilok software (working perfect)
• Uad Software (working perfect)
• I am using Intel INTEGRATED graphics
• Using HDMI out

What i dont need / don’t use

• Problem at shut down (not a problem)
• Sleep mode not working (never need it)
• Never check the audio input/output (i am using the firewire for this)
• no bluetooth/no wifi (using LAN for this)

Firewire 800 working perfectly.
System perfectly stable. . I am using ProTools 12.5.2. UAD 2 thunderbolt .
VERY SILENT SYSTEM.

some xtra info
i tried 4 time to install windows 10 in UEFI mode….

I Need windows to

1/activate thunderbolt

2/doing some rendering work

finally the solution was to use RUFUS (on windows) and create a “UEFI installer” on the usb key.

be carefull that the windows installer create 4 differents partitions ! (if you see 2 of them you are in Legacy mode)

i had to go trough that step as well…

i then had a problem to “flash” the thunderbolt on the pc side (check the thread) :

don’t forget that steps !! (once both software are downloaded) :


STEP 5: Navigate to This PC > Local Disk > Program Files (x86) > GIGABYTE > FlashTBT > FlashTBT_100

STEP 6: Run FlashTBT_100 Application

i am posting as a guide :

geekbench 3
a protools session with

110 audio tracks running
132 audio plugs running (between UAD and Native)
session fully loaded in memory

still have one question....
if i power down the computer completly i still have to open windows , then quit and load osx for the thunderbolt to work...
that is NOT really a problem... but did anyone found a solution ?
does it have to do with the "booting procedure" (i tried different configuration...)

Great build! I'm also running PTHD 12.5.2, on an old Apogee Firewire believe it or not. I'm going to get a USB class compliant next, like either the Grace m920 or RME ADI-2 Pro. FWIW my system is running solid (cutting a TV series on it right now) and haven't had any issues with stability at all

My TB problem not reconise from poweroff state

Thanks for the recognition my friend! @PW8888 glad to see you got it done. I don't have the starting windows first problem. Remember I said to remove that windows hard drive and it won't do that anymore. What I do have to do is turn on apollo 8 first then start the system and it will pick it up overtime. hope this helps.

Question, have you tried recording yet? I can't seem to get the audio from the mic/apollo into pro tools. Meaning apollo pics up the sound when i record but pro tools doesn't. not sure if its the adapter or an apollo setting I'm missing. thanks.

As far as uad ...
I am only using the satellite (no audio on it)...

Appollo driver?
Do you have the uad console open or not ?
Did you do a "remap" in the I/O setup of protools ?
Open a blank session and do a fresh setup.
Did you try the input with another software ?
I have a fully digital sytem. Running fully in the box..

awesome thanks i will try these tips it may be a remap of i/o or a fresh setup with apollo cuz i am using an old template from port tools TDM thanks bud.

Ok my first question would be, if have both windows and OS X on the same HD like dual boot? or in separate hard drives?

YOUR THE BEST!! @PW8888 I got it recording it was exactly what you suggested a fresh setup with new remap of apollo in pro tools I/O. I owe you big time! like i said keep me posted I am a very grateful person. Ill help you till you figure out your problem. Thanks again.

Get rid of the Startech FW card. That will make your computer reboot instead of shutting down. DeLock or Syba have FW cards that work properly.

Pro Tools 12.5.2 works fine on my rig, as do Cubase, Logic etc. Lynx Aurora 8 connected via LT-TB/Thunderbolt using the Startech adapter seems to work fine.

I have my rig overclocked to 4.7 GHz. It is still very stable and very silent.
