Hi

This is my first build so I am a complete noob. I am building this hack for recording purposes and want to use it with my Mbox pro 3. I will be using the

GA-B75M-D3P mobo and other recommended parts from the buyers guide.

My Mbox uses firewire so I need a pcie card for this board. All the recommended cards I have found on the forum are from the us, I live in Australia and I found this card from Umart.

Not sure if it works. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated as this is the only component in my build that I can't get a clear answer for about compatibility.

If you're going to be using Firewire for audio the consensus seems to be that you want something using a TI chipset. Not only is it supported by OS X, but it doesn't have the latency issues that affect some other chips.
(For storage use I find the VIA chips fine BTW)

That card picture actually looks like a Sunix board, which uses an LSI chip. :

I believe this card (from Scorptec in Victoria) uses a TI chipset, although it's FW400.
That Mbox Pro 3: does it need FW800 (1394b) or only FW400 (1394a)? My guess is FW400 might be fine, but check with someone else on that. The Audio sub-forum might be a good place to ask.

Yeah it only needs FW400, so hopefully this card will work.

I will post up my results when I know if it has been a success or not.

I've now seen one of these cards in person. I can change that statement to:

I know this card uses a TI XIO2200A chip.​
