My upgrade to i5-8400/Asus Z370-A went relatively smooth. I had a few issues getting the bios squared away (bios are a bit different after 9 years :)) and using a USB port that was functioning. I resolved an issue with the network connection by using the intelmaus kext instead of the Realtek, audio was no problem using the AppleALC kext. At the moment, I'm using the Intel UHD 630 graphics; boot times are half what they were and the system is quite a bit more responsive. Next is to hook up the rest of my HDDs, GPU and USB 3.1 add-in card. Everything else seems to be good, so far, but I have a question which I should have thought about earlier:
If I use Migration assistant to restore my previous system to the new SSD, will the EFI be changed? What else might be affected to cause issues with the system? Is there a simpler way to do what I'm trying? Thanks.

I figured it out...just had to copy the EFI Folder from my new build into the old build and good to go! I still need to sort out the usb 3.0 port speeds.
