My system started to randomly freeze on me, getting progressively worse until eventually it would not even reach Chimera on boot. I formatted and re-installed Mavericks and all appeared well again, but then freezing started over after a while and after I had loaded on many of my apps.

My build:
i7-4770k
z87x-ud3h
32gb gskill tridentx ram, running at stock timings and 1333mhz instead of 1600.
gtx 760
2x samsung 250gb in RAID0

Here's what I've done for diagnosing so far:

1. Dialed back CPU to factory conditions, no over clocking
2. Read forums. Upgraded BIOS to 8k, 8m, 9a, and 9b. None appeared to make any difference.
3. Removed all RAM and ran 1 stick at a time. Each stick ran without issues independently for 1-2 hours. Full memtest on each stick, all passed, no issues.
4. Loaded 2 sticks of RAM in, ran memtest, no issues.
5. Loaded 3 sticks in, ran memtest, no issues.
6. Loaded all 4 sticks back in and system freezing started again.

I'm hoping your feedback will help me determine what the issue is.

Is it bad memory?
Is it a bad memory slot on the motherboard?
Is is some other weird issue that I am missing?

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure it is the motherboard. There have been numerous accounts of issues using 4 sticks of ram. It's something they did during this version of Haswell motherboards. Hopefully they fix whatever issue it is with a BIOS update if possible.

I know they flipped the ram slots to apparently make it better but I don't know if this is the reason for the issue.
