I haven't tried tony mac before but have played the old iatakos and kalaway builds on my netbook

But after owning a imac and liking it i wanted to get back in to building my own little pc designed mac

This is my thoughts so far

Would like to run Lion with ability to change to Mountain Lion in future on the current hardware.

I have these components in mind:

Main HD: 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003
Processor: Intel Core Ivy Bridge i7 3570 or my other choice was i7 3770k

RAM:
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit x 2

or

[I have in house 2 X 6GB KIT - 12GB total
OCZ GOLD SERIES PC3 1600 - 10-10-10 @ 1.65V PN OCZ3G2000LV6GK - Obviously i would only use 8Gb in this case]

Motherboard: Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard (Rev 1.0)
Graphics Card: XFX Radeon 6870 2GB

[The other card i have in the house are palit gtx260 sonic 896mb or waiting on rma of gtx zotac gtx460 1gb? ]

SSD: Crucial 128gb from other pc
Case: COOLER MASTER CENTURION CASE 532 - (old pc case)
PSU: OCZ PSU MODEL OCZ GXS600 (have out of old pc)[/color]
Optical Drive: LG BH10LS38.AUAR
Heatsink: Stock
Bluetooth: Trust Bluetooth Dongle
Wifi: Edimax Wifi Dongle

Will this build work?

Looking to use Lion / Mountain Lion

i wa hoping to keep the blu ray drives is possible,

would you recommend going with the 3570k with lion

I made a typo in the main post as it was sl i was reading about on another forum but i want lion or mountain lion

Also what ram would you suggest out of the two i have above in op post

The bluray MIGHT work without causing sleep issues. Someone else comment on that because I'm not sure. I didn't look up your exact drive just saw that it was LG.

The 3700K is ivy. You could go 2600K or 2700K now with SL and that will still work with ML. Ivy will work on ML for sure. Even Lion works with Ivy right now using the bridgehelper.

If you already have the one I don't see a reason to spend the extra money.

May I ask what you need Lion for? Snow Leopard is wonderful as well.

On the Video card, I would suggest waiting for the GTX 460 to return if your running CUDA enabled software. I.E. - Premiere Pro CS5-6, Davinci Resolve, After Effects, etc.....
