Hello all,

I am planning on building a Hackintosh. This will actually be my first PC build of any kind, so any advise/help would be appreciated.

I currently own a 2012 MacBook Pro non Retina so I have some knowledge of macOS. I have Windows 10 dual booted other as well via Bootcamp.

My goal is to build a decent, not too expensive computer that I can game on (via Windows 10) and use macOS on as well.

I have watched a couple videos online and read through the Buyer's Guide, Installation Guide, and some forum posts on this site so I have a pretty good idea of what I need to purchase/do.

I already have:
- ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini 6GB (ZT-P10600A-10L) (Brand new)- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IA9FEOO/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
- Ultra 550W ATX Power Supply (Brand New) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WDSYXK/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

I plan to purchase:
- BitFenix Prodigy (White) Mini ITX Tower Case - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BZYJ6W/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
- Gigabyte GA-Z170N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015IOOJ54/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
- Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010T6CWI2/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
- Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UFBZOVE/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
- Crucial MX300 525GB 2.5" Solid State Drive - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IAGSD68/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
- Bluetooth Adapter Dongle, GMYLE Ultra-Mini USB Broadcom BCM20702 Class 1.5 Bluetooth V4.0+EDR Dual Mode Dongle wireless Adapter with LED - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015R7OA1U/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

I would like to confirm whether or not all of this hardware will work with macOS. I selected almost everything from the Buyer's Guide except the GPU and power supply. I am aware that the Nvidia's Pascal series GPUs do not have macOS drivers yet. That being said, it is possible to use the integrated graphics for macOS and the GPU for Windows 10, correct?

Am I also correct in understanding that the built-in Wifi and Bluetooth capabilities on the motherboard will not work in macOS? I have watched at least one video online where someone said I would need to either use ethernet to connect to the Internet or install a PCI Wifi adapter of some sort. Since I plan on using my dual slot GPU, I will not be able to install a PCI Wifi adapter. Also, in order to get continuity functioning, I will need to use a USB Bluetooth adapter like the one I listed above, correct?

Thank you all in advance for any advice you all can give! I am very excited to build my first PC/Hackintosh but want to make sure I do not rush into it or purchase the wrong parts.

Regards,

You are correct that the Pascal GPU is still unsupported in macOS. I don't know the answer to your question about using the 1060 in Windows and CPU graphics in macOS, but I'm sure a little searching will reveal the answer.

You are also correct that the Wifi that comes with the motherboard is unsupported in macOS (it's Intel-based). However, there is an easy solution - since the Wifi/Bluetooth module is on a standard MiniPCIe card, you can simply replace it with a compatible module. The one most folks use is a Broadcom BCM94360CD. This module is equipped with both Wifi and Bluetooth (native to macOS), so you won't need the external dongle.
