Hi there, I'm planning to do my first build. I have done hardware stuff in the past but this would be the first one from scratch. The main purpose would be for music/audio recording, which I have actually never done as well but I've been into music for years so I wanna make the digital leap.

Here are my specs so far:

  • Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD4H
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz
  • SSD: Intel 330 Series Maple Crest SSDSC2CT180A3K5 2.5" 180GB (x2, Mac & Windows 7)
  • RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (x2)
  • HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
  • Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
  • PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650M 650W ATX12V
  • Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 550D Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower

I've been researching quite a lot for the last 2 weeks, especially on this site (thank you TonyMacx86!). I would appreciate some feedback in terms of both the build itself, and if it would be a good fit for music production. I'm also trying to stay on a budget to, say, $1100-1300.

Thank you in advance!

EDIT: forgot to mention.. I am planning to record voice, guitar, and keyboards, most definitely one at a time.
