Well it was nice that the code was signed by a dev and thus identified - even if in name only.

Isn't it bad enough we have to cope with real viruses right now, without these fools?

I read the article when it came out. It was a very good read.
Their software is pretty good and 'free' I recommend to try them if you do not want to pay for the 'paid' equivalent.

regarding virus another good read.

Bottom line Virus, Ransomware, etc... are here to stay. They will not go away!

Objective-See FW or 'little snitch' are a must. I do have the later since v2. You will be amazed by how many 'sites' Apps, Websites try to access for no good reason related to their 'spec'. Granted you have the usual Advert but some are a bit like why?
As an example (not MacOS) a simple drawing Apps on Android asking you to access your contacts when there is no option to sms, email or else from the Apps.

Now it you're really in the thick of it and interested by the subject of 'Virus/Attack' (as very generic term) I recommend this articles.

Beware it is not by the faint hearted! again it is not MacOS specific.

It looks like it's a trojan, not a virus.

I'm not too concerned with trojans. I'm cautious enough to know what not to run. I'm only really concerned with viruses.
