I have the sleep/wake issue that knocks out my onboard VIA chipset firewire. So, today I went out and bought a Syba PCI firewire card that has a TI chipset (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124107), as people on this board have recommended both the brand and the TI chip.
Well, it didn't work... I was able to get my firewire audio device function after powering it off and on a few times. This only worked once. It works fine in Windows and using the onboard firewire (if I don't allow the system to sleep.)
The Syba card Ive seen recommended the most is the Syba SD-PEX30009. I got the Syba SY-PEX30016. Both cards have a TI chipset, but they are different versions.
The card I got has a TI XI02213BZAY chip (doesnt work):
The Syba SD-PEX30009 has a TI XI02213AZAY chip (reported to work):
So maybe not just getting a TI chipset is the answer, but getting the right TI chipset.
Is the SD-PEX30009 the only option out there for firewire? Does anyone know of any other makes/models which work just as well?
