When I am searching for files I am a column view guy because it so much easier to find what I am looking for

But otherwise I stick to the Icons view because it is neat and tidy looking. I am fussy like that

Everything on my machines is organised and neat

List/Detail View for life. Coverflow is simply a joke. Fun for an iPod/iPhone, nearly pointless for a desktop.

It could be useful for images. However, you may be right, I've never really used it ether.

I personally use Icons for Finder (cuz of my Windows background) and Columns to quickly select/open files.
I'm voting for Columns, because I've found it to be the most effective.

Column view since NextStep 1.0 beta in 1988! And I keep the dock on the right, too.

I hate gray

Being an old-timer NeXT user/developer, I use Columns pretty much all the time.

NeXT got color in NeXTSTEP 2.0, when machines with color displays shipped (the 16-bit NeXTStation Color and the NeXTDimension 32-bit color board for the NeXT Cube). Before that NeXTs only had 2-bit greyscale (black, white, light gray, and dark gray), so they did the best they could.
