Ok, got it working in 64bit with the Uakari boot file!
That new iBoot CD did the job!
Now just to get sound working again... 10.6.5 killed it :(

This is common, please see the 10. 6. 5 thread, to fix just apply the sound rollback option in the newest multibeast

I've actually already tried that with no luck :/
I've tried using a kext installer to load the legacy889HDA kext because it was not in /System/Library/Extensions after I tried to install it with multibeast.

Any ideas?

As your board has a Realtek ALC889 codec, please make sure that you install the AppleHDA 10.6.2 rollback from Multibeast, as suggested by notshy.

Good luck and Merry Christmas

Merry christmas to you too and all on this board!

Yeah I tried that one (10.6.2 rollback). Really not sure why I couldn't get it working, I eventually decided to completely reformat and start from scratch, everything works perfectly this time around.

iBoot -> 10.6 retail -> 10.6.5 combo update -> multibeast using userDSDT, LegacyHDA, 10.6.2 rollback, 64bit boot, graphicsenabler, Uakari boot file and the dumped bios from my card etc. Edited the com.apple.boot.plist for UseAtiROM.

Hope that might help someone having similar troubles?

I am confused
I got my card working with Kabyl's ati exp bootloader
I get nice resolution
the only thing missing is QE/CI
will this guide enable that?
b/c i have tried different methods of using driver from netkas without any luck at all

Maybe the description of Wayang-NT will lead to a working QE/CI.

If your card has one of the following device ids than no additional driver should be neccessary. You just should be fine with a current version of Chameleon RC5 or iBoot.

ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series: Device ID 0x6898
ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series: Device ID 0x6899
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series: Device ID 0x68B8
ATI Radeon HD 5600 Series: Device ID 0x68D8
ATI Radeon HD 5500 Series: Device ID 0x68D9

For more details please have a look at MacMans blog. He has some useful pieces of information about what cards are working out of the box and which aren't.

Hi guys. I have the same mobo (Ga-P55a-UD4) and my bios is F15. I think you must to update the bios before instal SL. Anyway, I still working to make Ati Radeon HD 5770 Passive in 64 bit, today with Multibeast 3.0. Go!!!

PD: This is my first post, sorry for any inconveniences or mistakes. And thanks for all!!!

That guide is from 2007. Front Row, DVD Player or the ripple when adding a new widget are the ways to check if QE/CI is working in Snow Leopard.
