Every time I try to update to 10.6.8 I have a kernel panic!!!

Do you think it's possible this is what is causing the issue? It's driving me nuts but I don't wanna give up.

When I've installed on older SB systems I've always had success with an EN210 by Asus so it should work for you too. There are still some low cost ones on Ebay if not, the 8400 GS can still be bought new.

Yes, this is just a temporary install so you can download a newer version of macOS and then install that and use your 750 Ti instead of this card.
