Ethernet suddenly broke

I had installed Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx when I first built my machine back in January and everything had been working fine till now. I would get a minor kernel panic on shut down sometimes, but it wouldn't display any error message- just said to restart. Yesterday when I got back from the movies my internet wasn't working and the green light from the ethernet port had shut off. I had been downloading something for about 5 days and the computer had not been turned off. I tried running multibeast 3.4 to repair systems and permissions and re-install the RealtekRTL81xx, but that didn't work. I am currently applying a back up from time machine from when the ethernet worked. Anyone know what's up?

false alarm my room mate unplugged the cable from the router >.<

Though if anyone knows why I am getting a kernel panic when I shut down or restart That would be cool to figure out
