Are you using the USB 2.0 port ... you should!

This board surprisingly doesn't have any USB 2.0 ports.
Here's the official spec: 8 USB 3.1 Gen1 (2 Front, 5 Rear, 1 Fatal1ty Mouse Port)

I just purchased a 10-pin USB 2.0 header adapter cable for the motherboard so I can try again. I'll report back with results...

Good news, the 10-pin USB header on the motherboard allowed me to install without any problems. Only thing now is to get my GPU working. I installed the appropriate Nvidia driver from the downloads section (I was careful to download the appropriate driver for my build) and it installed properly, only my graphics are still stuck at 1024x768. Anything worth giving a shot?

Can you tell me what you mean? 5GHz or sometimes you say 4.5GHz all cores. Can I get all cores 5.0GHz? Please tell me. Also my temps are a little high.

Also does iMessage and FaceTime work?

my 8700k scores 21000 on geekbench at 5.0 on all 6 cores. What is wrong?

Should be round about 30 000. With Geekbench 4. 20000 is more a 7700K expected result.

The results may depend on the speed of RAM too. My (non-OC'd) i5 8600k with 3200Mhz RAM gets 23000, for instance. When I used the RAM at 2666Mhz, it got 21000. Maybe they just have slower RAM, like 2133Mhz?

Thank you for the guide, Erik! I just built a very similar rig: 32gb ram, 8700k, same mobo and a GTX 1080 FTW. Without any overclocking I'm already at 5979 single core and 26322 multicore. Install was basically flawless with a 10.13.1 UniBeast USB; I immediately updated to 10.13.2. I'll write a complete build post when I get a chance...

It was the RAM (for some reason even though GeekBench claims to be strictly a CPU benchmark). I switched my single 8GB 2133 Pacific Sun stick for two 4GB 3000mhz Corsair sticks in dual channel, and now I'm at 26,000 without OC and 30,000 at 5.0GHz. It was definitely the single stick vs dual channel. I know because the dual sticks run at 2133, too, until you turn on XMP, and even at 2133 it was 26000 without OC.
