PSA Warning! For all Fury Card and RX 470-480 users enjoying the CU limit fix make sure to make extra copies of the RadeonX4100 and store them for the upgrade to Sierra 12.4. Once the new update is out there will be no more fix but the driver from 12.3 works in beta 12.4 V8 so keep them handy for updates.

Hi ! So, I was a little worried seeing the warning about not updating to 10.12.4 and copying the KEXTs, since when I was reading this thread I was already on 10.12.4.
Turned out, everything worked, including lifting the 16 CU limit, at least it seems like it on LuxMark !
Also, I have a RX 470 and wasn't sure if I should type 32 CU instead of the 36, since there is only 32 active CU on the 470 instead of 36 on the 480, well, it seems like it works fine ! There is only 32 CU working though, pretty sure, and my score isn't as good as with a 480 as expected, but pretty good ! 12981
For the laugh, my old GT 120 was giving me a stunning 242 score and 21% pixels different >_<
The old 2009 Mac Pro isn't doing bad with this bad boy... 14785 total (CPU + GPU). Still, thinking of building a hackinstosh with two RX 480. Or even start with keeping the 470 and adding a 480.

NB : I followed the instructions and got the link to the enable baffin script on https://www.theitsage.com/install-radeon-rx-480-gpu-macos-sierra/

Thanks to this thread, Ive finally got a fully working Sapphire RX 480 8gb.
Ive finally upgraded at last to 10.12.4 (first time I tried, OSX wouldn't start anymore..) and I got the full 36 units for the first time all year on my Sapphire RX 480. Its cool that I get Night Shift on my attached Apple Cinema Display, my 17" MacBook Pro doesn't get that...

We still need the helper cards? Cause for one, I would love a second RX480 to speed boost Final Cut Pro X... it would be great to ditch the helper card as with 10.12.4 my Radon HD 5770 from a Mac Pro is having all kinds of funny colours but when I start on my backup Mac OS that is still on 10.12.3 its fine. Any ideas..?

No, you don't need the helper card ! Just keep it on hand in case the drivers aren't recognized anymore (happened to me couple times when the system auto updated), but once the system is running, the only thing is you'll have a black screen while it boots, which is the case for any non EFI card.
Mine run with only the 470 and thinking of adding a 480

No you

He has a X99 system not real Mac Pro, he needs the internal graphics, or a helper card. The MacBook Pro mentioned probably threw you off.

So whats the deal with 10.12.4? Number of CU and CU Limit patches work (iHex finds it) but Change init function to Ellesmere instead of Baffin patch not found. Anyone figured out this ellesmere patch for 10.12.4?

Or not.

Most ATI cards have a dual bios.
I flashed my R9 Nano bios using this post from another site:
As it says, I get nothing on the screen until login.
But, full acceleration without igpu or a helper card on my X99 system.

It's pci-id is 67b0:1002
At offset 0x230:
00000220 43 10 6C 04 2C 02 1C A0 C2 A0 A0 00 50 43 49 52 C.l.,.......PCIR
00000230 02 10 B0 67 00 00 18 00 00 00 00 03 80 00 29 0F ...g..........).
00000240 00 00 00 00 41 4D 44 20 41 54 4F 4D 42 49 4F 53 ....AMD ATOMBIOS
replace B0 67 with something that doesn't match e.g. B5 67
And the EFI blob at offset 0x10020
00010000 55 AA 71 00 F1 0E 00 00 0B 00 64 86 01 00 00 00 U.q.......d.....
00010010 00 00 00 00 00 00 58 00 1C 00 00 00 50 43 49 52 ......X.....PCIR
00010020 02 10 B0 67 00 00 18 00 00 00 00 03 71 00 00 00 ...g........q...
Same thing B0 67 -> B5 67

Flash it to the card and you'll lose boot screen but it'll work with Sierra.

This is nice if you have dual bios, I've heard it won't boot to windows unless you switch back to original bios, is that correct?

Not yet, Flor!an needs the copy of 4100kext and 9510controllerkext, but I had no way to send it to him (not allowed using this forum). If you have a drop Box account you may be able to contact and send for analysis.

How are your Uningine benchmarks? Have you tested OpenGL apps? For RX 480 top Uningine Valley Extreme HD scores top out at 1900-1950 normally. The highest I've seen is a 2000.

This is my XFX RX 480 8gb reference card with a Nvidia GT210 1gb as helper card on a X99 type system (AM4 board). This is the highest Luxmark score I've ever produced my best with Skylake i6500 was 1700.
