OS X Installation

Update "BIOS" to F14

Reset to "Optimised Defaults" and change the following:
- Enable Intel Virtualisation Tech

When booting from USB and from the HDD without multibeast, use GraphicsEnabler=yes

Do a software update to get to 10.9.4

Follow the standard installation: http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

Windows 7 Installation

Unplug OS X Drive

Install Windows 7 SP1

Only install the drivers necessary for the components to be recognised in the device manager; Gigabyte's driver suite is just bloatware and their audio drivers aren't as good as the ones that Windows installs itself.

Attach OS X Drive

Install HFS windows drivers as per: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?t=17519

Tell Windows that we're using GMT in the "BIOS", not local time: http://weblogs.asp.net/dfindley/arch...Pro_2900_.aspx

Little Problems

Only the orange (centre) line out and digital out of the motherboard's ALC898 are functional.

The first graphics card I purchased was an Inno3D GTX 570, which blew up after a couple of days.

Have you tried the Firewire port?

Nice Build. Thanks for all the detail.

Little Problems

When a USB drive is mounted and the computer goes to sleep, the following error is reported:

Disable XMP. This Problem will only appear if you overclock your CPU or as someone mentioned a few days ago, if you enable XMP Profile.

Thanks warjack - disabling XMP fixed the USB ejection problem.

Of course I want to run my RAM at 1600MHz instead of default speed, so I've re-enabled XMP and overclocked to 4.0GHz :)

tagged, and thanks.
any luck with the wifi card?

You can have your RAM running at 1600MHz with XMP disabled, as I have discovered completely by accident.
