My alc 889 audio only works when SIP is disabled. When it is 0x0 in clover, I get no output devices period. I could have sworn that my audio was working earlier even after I enabled SIP around two days ago, but maybe I am wrong as I haven't done anything requiring audio for like 3 days. So, must SIP be enabled for audio to work on El Capitan? I use the modified AppleHDA.kext that comes with the latest Yosemite multibeast, if that makes any difference.

Thanks Toleda. I had read that before, but I assumed that the AppleHDA kext was signed. I've been messing with different config.plist's lately , so I think that's where my confusion is (I guess I was using a config with SIP disabled, and once I enabled it, recently I never noticed that the audio wasn't working). I will have to work with SIP at 0x3.
